This can not be true, PMB have done enough in Agriculture. Is corruption of the past government that makes it to look like he has done nothing. I addition to fact that Bloomberg is corrupt grin
My dear don't mind the fools here, they did not even read properly the topic of the post. All I can see is that the writeup is talking about probable rice importation by 2019 mentioning Nigeria due to the recent flood that devastated most of our farm land. Ignorance I know is the biggest problem of Nigerians not leadership. Too many imbeciles here on NL.

how is this figure accurate?

Nigeria has banned importation of rice. This means there are no more containers of foreign rice being declared at the ports.

Now I know foreign rice are still being smuggled through the land boarders, usually done with small vehicles carrying few bags, but how Bloomberg put a figure to smuggling and even project a rise in the figure for the coming year is what I dont understand.

Something definitely doesn't make sense with the news.
Importation of rice through landborders was banned not importation of rice.. how wud u think they banned importation of rice. U wan starve?

There was flood in 2018. 50% of Nigeria's rice farms were affected. That is the only reason Nigeria will import rice in 2019. It will never get up to 2013/2014 levels.

Young PDP supporters suffering inferiority complex of being supporters of the dumbest, most wasteful and most corrupt party on the African continent should think hard and research issues before posting comments.

In fact, if you deny the act of God (floods) and sit lazily in front of smart phone denying progress made in your country, let me shock you, Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa states are voting heavily for Buhari because of Agric revolution and thousands of millionaires created. There are lies on social media but there are also practical truths.

Here we go again, their lies have been busted.

This administration has again destroyed the hard work of previous administration in the resurgence of the rice sector which was led by Akin Adesina.

The article even stated that local rice consumption has increased by 4%

Domestic demand rose 4 percent to 6.7 million tons in the 2017-18 year that ended in May.

However they project imports will increase by 13%

The agro industry remains a top priority, food security will go a long way we should locally produce most of what we eat

Look, govt people typically grant special import licences to themselves, friends and cronies. They make a killing while parroting that a particular product is banned.
If you know you know.

Which of the benue? The one that Buhari have been following to drag land for grazing reserve for his fulani people or is it plateau that has not known peace in main Jos town since Baba stepped into office.....

Agricultural revolution, where is the land to farm that is safe in benue? Which Agricultural policy has been inaugurated by Federal government that has encouraged boost in crops yields since they came on board?

Which farmer in the entire Republic of Nigeria can say that federal government gave me seedlings or fertilizer or it is safe for me to go to farm unescorted or this is the input of the federal government to agriculture that has sparked agricultural revolution?

Be deceiving yourself there, make pant dey wear all of una......
