If only schooling was so easy.

kayfra:
An average Nigerian will scream bloody murder when Atiku implements this. The value of naira to the dollar will dramatically rise, probably north of 700 Naira to a dollar and prices of everything will increase immediately.

While it seems like a reasonable economic policy. Nigerians are absolutely not ready for it.

The fact that he intends to implement same strategy doesn't mean he's going to incorporate same inadequate strategies used by Buhari admin.

That's why he has a sharp minded economic strategist on his side to make sure he makes accurate decisions towards the growth of Nigerian economic team.

EvilMetahuman:
brainwashed atiku fulani slaves are already rejoicing over the jargons he just said.
..

the first thing buhari did when he came was float naira/dollar which made dollars go as high as 500 and inflation reached all time high... the same brainwashed mor0ns wailed about how buhari is killing them with hunger.

now these same mor0ns are praising atiku for planning to implement the same thing... now they wonder why no one takes them seriously.

Nigeria is too be big to be risked, we've had enough of visionless leaders who plunged the nation into confusion.

Dundees up here praising atiku for what every ss1 economics student has a fundamental knowledge of!

You want to float the naira in a heavily import dependent economy! What do you produce besides oil that will shore up your naira? and even the oil, you only extract it and still import it's finished products!!

When you see the prices of your everyday necessities triple or more and indigenous industries requesting for payments in dollars instead of naira and the expected FDI is still no where to be found, no one will tell you before you and your families carry placards and signs in protest at Aso Rock by which time it will be TOO LATE!

If Atiku does this, you will be too hungry to post anything on social media. Your young life will be wasted.I am not even sure you understand what you are commenting on. If USD goes up to N500 and inflation is not curtailed, interest rates will follow it. Nigeria will become Venezuela.
God will never allow Atiku to be come President one of the reasons being that his followers are too uneducated to understand the disaster he will bring.
By the way, he is also for grazing reserves and he wants to sell NNPC.

Think, think, think hard. It is not easy but it is your future.

Not supporting any political party.
But floating the naira should lead to a more transparent economy.
The value of the naira would be directly related to how the economy is doing. At least we'd know how shitty this country is, not the lies the govt and cbn are dishing

However, the current state at which the country is, a float would be massacre

olujastro:

Floating simply means allowing market forces to determine the actual value of the naira.
Floating the naira now is a dangerous step to take. This will take the exchange rate to close to $1 = N1000. Inflation will definitely triple. That means a bag of rice will be 50k.

High oil price is what gives the naira value as most of our foreign earnings come from oil and gas sales.

Nigeria needs to gradually diversify its economy away from oil and reduce its imports especially on items that consume our foreign reserve the most like petroleum products, rice, wheat and steel.

In summary, produce these items locally and possibly export them (after which we can then float the naira), so that the strength of the naira can rely on other things apart from oil.

This govt has previously said it plans to float the naira by 2022 based on its target of producing those 4 items locally by then.

As an example, Egypt relies less on oil than Nigeria. They floated their currency last year and the exchange rate went from 1USD = 9 EGP to 1USD = 18 EGP. That's a 100% loss of value with its attendant inflation.

The so called oil is even worthless now sef considering the proce of global crude. Hope Nigeria won't go the venezuela way.

I doubt it will stoke inflation, and if it does, will be marginal.

Why I said this is that all goods are already priced at the parrallel or black market rate of 360 unless we are deceiving ourselves.

There's a lot of roundtrippibg going on by well connected or highly influential entities who buy at 310 which is the official rate and sell at the black market rate.

I love the sound economic viewpoint of Atiku. His understanding of advance economic principles is the icing Nigeria dearly needs now. A vote for Ariku is a vote to position the country to take her rightful place among the comity of developed economies in earth.

Atiku spent 2 months in Dubai writing these jagon! Funny enough this would run a lot of Igbo's out of their importation business and also murder our local currency. I always knew that Atiku was daft, I just didn't know he was this daft.
