A Twitter user Toby Adedipe , a software developer for the Health Startup based in surulere, Doctoora (https://mobile.twitter.com/Doctoorahealth ) was apparently fed up with his employers and took to Twitter to share his experiences working on three products, alone yet paid 30k even when the startup was making money.

In the now deleted tweets, he shared screenshots of his conversations with his employer, lamenting the poor pay and conditions in the startup and how he was given heavy works yet poor pay and sort advise to quite.

But things took a weird turn after his boss got a hold of his tweets and clearified' the issues. Stating Toby wasn't qualified and lied about his skills. He didn't deliver projects and was always late to work.

Others have joined in on the debate. So should startup pay peanuts because they are Startups, given Nigerian companies don't give stocks.

I don't understand that one who said he doesn't know what a startup entails. So because it is a start there shouldn't be division of labor? Or was he promised shares of the company?

The employer is a thief! If the guy lied and wasn't qualified why didn't he sack him, yet he sought to exploit him instead

The story is incomplete... But an employee won't wake up and rant if there's no overwhelming reason for such?

Working with startups demands so much... But then again, it's only fair to pay what will take care of the basic needs of the employee... 30,000 salary in Lagos is simply put not the best way to encourage the employee.

My two cents though

If you feel underpaid or don't like your job, simply resign and go. It is not wise to come to social media to run your employer down. Someone else may need the job more than you do

Sorry about that, once Atiku Obi gets Nigeria working again, there will jobs for you to choose from.
