Somebody is cashing in seriously on this Albino's appointment. This guy is no way better than any of our local coach as far as women football is concerned.

Shame on you.

Ever since Chichi Igbo left the Super Falcons, it has become a joke and a shadow of itself.

Sadly overrated Asisat Oshoala is too busy living for the gram to contribute anything meaningful on the pitch.
Onome Ebi on the other hand plays like she's perpetually having menstrual cramps.

Once again, shame on you Super Falcons.
chichi dat has never kicked anytin round all her life! dnt mind her ,she is just internet footballer

I really didn't see the need for a foreign technical adviser.
Women are very emotional and loyal. They would have done better with a female local coach than a male foreigner

Their technical gap in the game was obvious. Am so sure this coach has no understanding of African female games.

More so the average South African age yesterday was 26.They had speed from the wings. Especially the no 11.Our defenders couldn't match their speed because they were old and tired

We have so many overrated players who shouldn't be on the team. Even there is nothing wrong in dropping even an Oshola and bringing her in second half

That South African coach new the team and understood our weakness. That's why she allowed her players to drain strength from the left defender and right and seeing our girls were now weak bring in that fast pace no 11

Next game they need speed. All those forming they playing abroad and can't make a high school squad should be dropped. Better you playing regularly in our local league than claim you are foreign based.

My tots

Shame on anyone who is berating this ladies after yesterday's match. A lot of you cannot even push a ball around yet you can type all sorts of insulting comments here. We all know how this girls performed when Florence Omagbemi was their coach. Even with the bad treatment by the NFF they were still motivated to win. No friendlies in a year , no kits and you expect them to work wonders? angry

I pray you girls will take yesterday's defeat as a learning process to come out better. Best of luck

Well, prove me wrong in una next match else, we men go strike (unto no cassava/banana for una) tongue

Next, they play a tough Zambian side who just walloped Equatorial Guinea - the Falcons' supposed biggest threat to winning the cup, days leading up to the start of the competition.

I doubt they'd get maximum points off the She-polopolo

Yes, cos they never trained. This team never played together since winning the 2016 edition. The players that played the qualifiers were not included in the squad.
The team didn't play any friendly match before the tournament.
The team didn't receive any support from the Federal Govt.
So, how do you expect them to perform well?

I'm not giving up hope, because we've been here before.

We had a terrible preparation for the 1990 Nations Cup in Algeria. Back then, there was no FIFA rule that mandated clubs to release their players and so most of our foreign based professionals refused to play at the Nations Cup.

Stephen Keshi was our captain, but he was also a very important player for Anderlecht at the time. He was in a dilemma. He had an idea and he made an offer. He said that he could rent a private jet that would fly him to Algeria for the Eagles' matches and fly him back to Belgium for his club's games. Westerhof obviously rejected the offer, so Keshi was out of the squad.

We took a home based team to the Nations Cup. If I remember correctly, Andrew Uweh and Friday Elaho were the only Europe based players in our squad.

Our first match was against the hosts, Algeria. Algeria’s captain was Rabah Madjer and he was probably the biggest African superstar at that time. The Algerians trashed us 5-1. Rabah Madjer scored 2 of the goals (I still hate him till this day) and Emmanuel Okocha (Jay Jay’s elder brother) scored our only goal.

People criticised the team and Coach Westerhof (who was relatively new at that time). The team picked itself up, talked to themselves, motivated themselves and Yekini became our savour. Yekini was playing for Africa Sports of Ivory Coast at that time, so he could attend the Nations Cup.

Yekini scored the only goal as we defeated Egypt in the second match. He scored the only goal again as we defeated Ivory Coast in our third match and we thus qualified for the semi-final.

Yekini was not done. He scored again in the semi-final and Uche Okechukwu added another goal to help us defeat Zambia 0-2.

We ended up playing Algeria again in the final and we lost 1-0, but Nigerians were satisfied that the Eagles had improved greatly after the humiliation of the first game.

Hopefully, the story will be the same with the Falcons and they will overcome their poor preparation to win the tournament and qualify for the World Cup.
