Bros you did well with the Tax and cost of living but fumbled when you said 16$ is not a lot of money. 16CAD is 12USD and that is higher than the minimum wage in almost all countries of the world including USA and Canada. Australia is the only COUNTRY with more than 12USD (16CAD) as minimum wage in the entire world.

But I can only tell u that you can get as much as 22$ for the same security job he does in some countries. Maybe even in another province in the same Canada I don’t know. But I don’t expect a security officer to be paid minimum wage.

I understand what you mean. But i need a substantial savings before i can invest anything. Secondly, my intentions of doing this are completely sincere. Its to commit myself and encourage others that not withstanding your earnings, if you work hard, you can achieve. And, again, doing anything with the information i posted in terms of hacking is an exercise in futility.

Exactly. I have tried to save before and i always came up short. But i want to be serious with it and i am certain this will help, cos i really need some sort of accountability.

I'd like to say something about living in Canada or outside Nigeria. No matter how much you are taxed, if you live within your means, you will survive. I had a great job in Nigeria, i was paid about #400,000 a month, but i still left Nigeria. It took me a while to decide to leave,but eventually i did. it took me 4 years of job searching to land that job in Nigeria. In Nigeria i used to leave the house by 5am just to beat traffic and get to the island on time cos i resumed by 7am. And typically i get home about 6pm. That is already 13 hours of intense stress. Yes, my job position was more prestigious than answering security guard now, but eventually, i will not eat job title.
Working in Canada is not typical like Nigeria, cos here, you cant be Lazy. But, My job is actually one of the sweetest for now. I typically work between 12 and 15 hours a day, sometimes 5 days or 6 days a week. but 90% of that time is spent either watching movies or studying for my degree, because, i work gatehouse security, and i do absolutely nothing the whole day, i mean absolutely nothing, just sitting there. There was a week i made $2222, and i almost felt guilty, cos it felt i just left my house and did nothing and got paid, but then i remembered, i am also robbing myself of 8 hours sleep, i still get about 5 hours sleep for now. But i have peace of mind.
So my point is this, if you want to make the plunge to leave Nigeria, think about it, but once you have made up your mind, dont look back. Nothing good comes easy, but eventually after a few years, your Blue or red or black passport will surely make you smile than the green passport one has now.

Bro why security? Always live below what you earn, cook your own meals or get a frugal babe to help you

He settled for security job; in Nigeria context, such job is demeaning so to speak. But in advanced countries, there is dignity of labour in all a man does.

Now, he is putting in less effort to make that much and you are advising him to watch his health.

Now, as security guard, he is seizing the opportunity to study , make research and have fun too.

And he never said he will remain a security guard for life because he is even on a master's degree program.

It's all well and good as long as you don't infringe on the restricted working conditions of your student visa. I don't know about Canada, but a UK or US student visa only allows 20 hours a week work during term time. This leaves you with only 3 months in a year to work full time.

Treasury bill is better than fixed deposit. You can earn 15% on your money every 90/days and roll it 4 times in a year.

This is a good advice, because i know students that try to do this and its not worth it, because you will get caught and deported for infringing on the conditions of your visa. I am actually a permanent resident.
