Most Definitely. Earning a degree is always the best because then you get to compete favourably with the best jobs. The site where i work security have lots of engineering companies working on the project, and they earn good money.

Hello bro, what if one completed a degree in canada/USA. Can it help one earn more like without overtime work.
Like me planning on getting a bsc in Electrical Engineering, Do I have a higher chance on not working that much and getting paid heavily.
Ps: I'm not lazy just a question.

I actually prefer the OP's lifestyle. He is not even sacrificing his comfort while saving. You saw where he wrote that he drives a 2017 car? Newer model cars don't come cheap as you can tell from his monthly payment. I have worked security jobs too when i was a new immigramt in Canada. It's one of the easiest survival jobs out there. It also lets people prepare for professional exams while on the job compared to other survival jobs that would break people and leave them worn out.

The op has set himself on the right path. Canadians like to consume, consume and consume the more often spending more they can afford which the government is even trying to discourage by increasing the BOC lending interest rate to slow down that habit.

I dont see how Op's savings habit has anything to do with Abacha or Nigerian corrupt politicians. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
Pls I don't understand is it that u will collect a car and be paying for it installmentally?

I think the OP would be in a better position to answer this. It could be a lease or a finance. I do not know.

Yes thats what it means. I am financing my car so i pay instalments every month. i pay $500 every month for an 84 month term. My car contract is an open one, that means any timne i have the full money for the car, i can pay it off, or i can also go back to the dealership for an upgrade. Now one can either finance or lease a vehicle. If you lease, its more like you are renting the vehicle for a set period. with financing, its more like rent to own.

Hi Guys, I moved to Canada 2 years ago and i have not been able to save any money yet. I made up my mind that i must save $120,000 (one hundred and twenty thousand dollars) by November 10,2020. I decided to document my progress on this forum, so that anyone that wants to compel themselves to save money for the future can also be encouraged to do so. We all have different savings targets. I didn't put my full information on the forum due to security reasons since i am going to be posting my bank balances from time to time to document my progress. Now, a little background on myself. I am a graduate from Nigerian. I came to Canada in 2016, worked in a warehouse for a while. I presently work as a security guard while doing my Masters degree. Its a 2 year masters degree. My hourly earning is $16 an hour, but i work a heavy overtime schedule, since nobody wanted to work overtime, as a naija sharp guy, i offered to work the overtime shifts.
I started the Savings last week and i am going to post my first bank balance online. Lets see if i can meet my target. If anyone has tips that can help me achieve my goals, your suggestions are highly welcome. If anyone wants to save, you can also post on here , lets document our progress together. But please keep personal info off here for security reasons. So, lets do this.

A 27 year is still young, cos i am older than that but i have stated a master's degree. I was once shortlisted for a job that pays $90 an hour, but i didnt get it because i had no masters degree and the recruitment team let me know. That was why i immediately enrolled for a masters degree. Having a kid is no problem at all because the government will even help you out until you get a job. Its an organized society here. This is the way Canada society works, or i think so. If you possess a lot of degrees from outside the country, thay may not matter until you get even one degree from Canada. It can be a diploma, BSc PGD or masters degree, but just get something from here and you are good to go

I am not sure on how to answer this. I am an Engineer and won't really be the right person to inform you about business careers in Canada.

Depending on your family size and lifestyle, you may require atleast $300 per month for groceries/feeding alone. Other bills like phone, internet and electricity can set you back at least $250 per month. If you have a car, add another $300 to $500 per month based on how far you have to drive to work plus insurance payment. Rent would vary upon region or the type of house want to live in. Anywhere in Canada, I do not expect anything decent to be less than $1000 a month for a family.
