Modric was a consistent player for 5 years in which Real madrid Fc won 4 Champions League, 3 on a roll, C. Ronaldo won 4 Ballon D'or, He was the most resourceful link between the Defense and the Attack, His contributions won so many games for Madrid, i think he deserve the award, but not forgetting the Ballon D'or is through votes, better players might not win.

Football is a team sport, we shouldn't rate modric by his ability to score goals. Stats like distance covered, passes completed and maybe assists. Remember Modric also won most valuable player at club world cup ahead of Ronaldo.
