For Uber X registration : It must be Toyota Camry or Corolla. any other brand of car will not be allowed for registration.

what of Toyota Avensis 2009 model? Is it acceptable?

Take the old one to dealer, prolly you might get a discount of 3k on the new price. They might end up saying 23k to original and 17k for you know... Either way I don't trust any dealer

Are the 'Taxify' category partners having same issue?

This one that this thing has persisted and if one reviews, they still put the same fare; I'm having a feeling Taxify has further reduced fares without announcing.

People that just joined Taxify may be in a better position to tell if Taxify cover is compulsory...I thought it was compulsory when I joined & did mine in Jan.

It is different from comprehensive or third party insurance. It covers theft/loss of personal effects
owned by riders and or partners during a trip.

Are you sure about this, before now it used to count against the driver even after waiting 5mins without rider showing up..
