Please has any landed senior had a situation where they got mail from IRCC, months after landing and settling down, that the passport of one of their dependant or spouse did not meet PR card specification and should retake and send one that meets specification within 30days or risk PR application being cancelled that particular family member. Please information is needed urgently. Thanks

This has happened to a few people I know. Just take your dependant to a passport photo store (tell them what you need it for), take a new one and send it to IRCC. I would advice choosing the option of being able to track it when sending with Canada Post just for peace of mind.

No disputes with that. Infact, that's why I'm looking forward to her gist, she doesn't do anything in half measures

Yeah, things are happening around her and we should not forget it is her prerogative.

This was created under the provincial nomination program sub-forum because the PR processing time for paper-based nominees, especially for INLAND applicants, takes too long, and it is now taking 19 months (average). It floats from 14 to 19. Since this is the longest time of all the streams, people get anxious about their application.

Now, first you have to understand that, THE REASONS WHY YOUR APPLICATION IS TAKING TOO LONG ARE SUPER SIMPLE, don't freak out about your case.

If your question was already answered on this topic or if you didn't read this thoroughly, I will not answer your question and I ask other good-hearted users to not reply to them either, since if a person doesn't read the whole topic and come here all selfish and lazy shouting in capitals "everyone PLZ HELP, I NEED ANOTHER PAIR OF EYES ON THIS, HI, I'M NEW HERE AND I'M A XXXNP APPLICANT FROM YESTERDAY, MY CASE IS THIS _____(INSERT OFF TOPIC AND UNNECESSARILY DETAILED LONG CASE HERE, PROBABLY COPIED AND PASTED FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE)____, HOW LONG WILL THIS TAKE, HELP MEEEE, HEY HERE (SEND PRIVATE MESSAGE TO EVERYONE) BLABLABLA", they should learn that this is not a forum of free consultation, and that the best way to immigrate is to learn and do it yourself instead of throwing your money in the hands of someone else to take care of a matter as important as your future, and if you, like me, have been around for about a year, you probably have seen a lawyer or consultant screwing up someone else's life, and you have probably heard that good laywers and consultants.

I will follow up by posts, so, know that I will be quite frank on some points later on. I will talk about what I have seen.

Lets started with some factors...

As you will be crossing over into a new career bridging programs might not be a fit for you. Most HR entry job postings require that you have at least a diploma in Human Resources Management. I would advice that you do the same too as the workplace environment is very different (unionized and non-unionized) when compared to Nigeria. If you are looking to take a course before you arrive in Canada, this would be to your advantage as you will be job ready by the time you land in Canada. There are a variety of universities and colleges you can apply to, ashton college offers both online and in-class Human Resources Programs https://www.ashtoncollege.ca/programs/human-resources-management/ . I hope this helps, best wishes.

Thanks a lot

Paid to n fro courier fees to Lagos and submitted.

When the passport came back from Accra, ups picked it up and delivered it to my house .

I submitted my evaluated document by document transcript from WES to EGBC and I was told to submit a syllabus/Course description:

· Document Request: Syllabus/Course description [Lagos]

Hi Guys is there anyone living in BC or any province who has submitted their transcripts to the local Engineering body for evaluation and been told to submit a syllabus/Course description. If yes, how were you able to go about it?
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by DaddyTheFather: 8:50pm On Dec 06, 2018
Hey...thanks for this reply...

Saw it a few days back but things were happening and I decided to see the end of them before replying.

Honestly, you're probably right in your assessment, and my Mrs actually told me to consider it. But God was just faithful in the end. We got a place for 1500 from a guy we met on Airbnb while we were looking for a short stay. Single house, with all we wanted.

I did also find two other places that fit the budget. Condos under $1500 that were in decent condition.

My advice for anyone still looking is to check on the websites of property development companies for all available properties in their portfolio (they all tend to have several) and call the rental offices. Many will not answer, so be patient and try again or send an email. CAPREITis one such company with almost 100 properties in the GTA. most will be over 1500, but some will be under. One was even 1300.

CC TheCongo2, and thanks for the advice...

Iyamefa:

Hi there.
Those areas you mentioned are in the GTA and to be honest, your budget isn’t realistic for an apartment. Rent isn’t exactly cheap here unless you look into smaller towns probably outside the GTA.
It’s not impossible but highly unrealistic to get an apartment for that amount. Why aren’t you guys going for a basement? That budget will get you a basement apartment. If you can’t exactly increase the budget and have no one to stay with, I suggest you go for the basement apartment and save your Airbnb money. I don’t know the size of your family but you can get a 2 room basement (even more, who knows) with that amount.
If your concern about basements is the fact that its the coldest part of the house, get mobile heaters to add to the central heater and you guys will be fine. Afterwards, when you guys are settled you move from there.
Hope this helps

My Landing Gist...

I arrived Toronto Pearson Airport from Lagos via Frankfurt (Lufthansa) on 03/12/2018. It was not a long flight (only 8hrs 40 mins) though I had a pretty lengthy layover in Frankfurt. Had no issues with immigration in Lagos as none of my bags was overweight and it was smooth sailing all the way. At the immigration desk in Toronto, the officer asked how much I had and I told her ($4000) USD, she didn't ask for my proof of funds. She further asked if I had any food and I told her I had groundnuts, so I literally spent less than a minute with her.

From then on, I was directed to the newcomers section where I submitted my COPR and my details were taken, important to note that I was able to change the passport photograph attached to my COPR after asking the officer, who kindly obliged me (this was the copy I had submitted at the PPR stage, I didn't like it anymore). Upon completion of all documentation, I was allowed to retain the second copy of my COPR. Just beside the Newcomers section was the 'Welcome to Canada' desk, here again, my details were taken, I was given a Newcomers booklet and other information on settlement services, etc after which the officer welcomed me to Canada. I was also given information on the documents required to process my heath card. Surprisingly and luckily enough, the Service Canada desk was still open at this time and I was able to get my SIN right there at the airport.

Onto customs, as I had already declared that I had ground nuts on me, there were no delays at customs, I filled the goods to follow form and discovered that I could bring most of the items on it without having to ship them down and without any tax implications.

I finally concluded my landing formalities at about 6:30pm and was able to locate the taxi company which took me to my destination. All in all, it was a smooth departure and arrival process. and to those on their way, may the land favor us all.

NB. I am still adjusting to the weather conditions, nothing really prepares you for the cold, it is extremely cold, but layering up and having the right gear (good winter jackets, slip proof winter boots, thermal wears, sweaters, scarves, gloves, socks, etc, will help keep you warm)

I got a SIM from Koodoo Mobile, (they have nationwide coverage and their monthly payments are reasonable)

I also opened an account with First Ontario Credit Union Bank which also have reasonable services and charges for newcomers.
