An MSc student from my lodge who ones serve in the North told me a true life experience during its NYSC days there, He said there was riot and fight broke out between the Christian and Hausa in the community. He said while the Fight was going on they all ran into hiding. If someone is paying taxes where he resides and making an income there, it is the government policies there that affect him the most, not his village, home town or 'state of origin'. Nonetheless, that should not restrict anyone from choosing where to vote. If they live in Kano and love Zamfara politics so much, so be it. As IDA is playing politics with this announcement, the non-Igbos do not need to go home at every election.

Most Igbos register to vote where they stay and not in their home towns. They then use election period as holidays rather than utilizing their population to influence politics. Igbo people don't vote which is sad.

We yoruba muslims also run from the abokiis during election. I remember when I was in kano during the sharia riots. Our yoruba muslim people were running from our hausa muslim brothers in the main towns and villages to go hide in Ibo-dominated Sabon gari in kano state.

May just be security concerns. I have a couple of foreign clients who have put off business till after the elections. Nothing I can say but agree. This is a nascent democracy. Everyone is concerned. It behoves on all parties particularly government to ensure minimal disturbance to the national psyche throughout this transition.... by toning down the infamous 'do or die' rhetoric in all its ugly forms. It is affecting us all and it will cut into my numbers next year.
