Well... self-cutting is described as a form of attention-seeking, at times suicidal behaviour.

She should listen to Audioslave's "Like a Stone " about a suicidal guy..... very deep song.

Chris Cornell, the lead singer eventually committed suicide himself cry
I've never heard suicide in this song

I hate Nigeria and Nigerians. Just going through some of the most awful and hurtful comments written here. This young lady was going through a very difficult time in her life and rather than applaude her ability to overcome her pain, most of the comments here are downright evil.
This is the state and mindset of the Nigerian youth. Our culture dehumanize weakness and it is sickening. It will never be well with this country.
Do you really think the ones commenting here have it all cushy?
Many people have battled with illnesses, amputation, complete penury, disasters that lay to waste years of labour, imagine those Chilean miners that were stuck miles underground without food, water and light yet they showed mental fortitude and pulled through it all.

Those are the ones that deserve an ovation!!
That girl didn't loose a family member, limb or health. She just felt depressed and decided that life wasn't worth living. And we should clap for her?

What if everyone faced with challenges just broke down, gave up trying and started contemplating suicide, civilization wouldn't progress much, and such a society would'nt exist long

Frankly, this ignorant asinine mindset is exactly what the problem is with Nigerian youths. So because others have it worse let’s condemn a person with mental health issues? Do you not see how ignorant this sounds? Depression is a real and destructive mental disorder. I suggest you spend time on the internet learning about it rather than make ridiculous comparisons on who has it worse in life. I applaud and celebrate the young lady for having the mental fortitude to overcome her depression. I have no doubt her story would have be day save someone somewhere.

That's not attempting suicide. You notice those slashes were nowhere near the vein in her wrist, that is where the danger lies, not cutting her skin.
There is a clinical name for people who cut themselves but I forgot what it is called. It's a form of mental illness. I know a girl who has at least 30 razor slashes on both of her arms and she did it to herself. This is the deal, people who do that to themselves do it because they hold a lot of pain inside and they can't let it out like we normally do, so they cut themselves to make themselves feel and release the pain. It is also a cry for help and attention. She doesn't want to kill herself if she did there would be no records because she would be dead. One deep slash going straight down the wrist, not across and she's a goner. She knows what she is doing. Well, at least she's getting the attention that she craved.
Madam psychoanalysis well done.

you clearly didn't get the point.
what was the cause of her depression? she felt bad and next thing we should clap for her for what?? I asked you, would you agree to live in a society where everyone depressed just sits and starts contemplating suicide? I'm not even expecting you to answer that question.

If she has mental issues then her family members should take her to a psychiatrist so she doesn't hurt herself or anyone. That's the mentality many of these suicide bombers have. instead of applauding the problem, we should seek solutions even if they seem expedient to the faint hearted.

That kind of girl may one day decide to take herself out and then take someone with her.

She already knows the correct way to harm herself that's why she stays away from her wrist area.

She said she cut herself to feel better and not to commit suicide. Not everyone is attention seeking like you. People got real life problems.
Hmmm! I reread your post and you were very defensive. I would like to ask you a few questions and receive a reply if you are stable enough to answer them. Are you cutting yourself as well? You said that I was seeking attention. How so? You said that people have real life problems. You don't consider this a real life problem? Are you the girl the article was written about?
