Why don't you build one section first and complete it. Dan to be building a huge massive area and now most of the projects are abandoned. Most of these huge products in nigeria I just took big the budget is not just there to complete them. Let me give you a example dangote's oil refinery people told him to scale it down when the project started he refused now he's paying for it big time. He is spending billions of us dollar on the refinery and is just being back dated backdated and back dated. It was supposed to be complete in 2017 it was move to 2019 now the latest information from dangote itself he is claiming 2022 it will be operational. But the people which are building it putting the figure at 2024 or 2025. We need to stop building this white elephant. Nigeria is a country where people cannot learn we want to do everything the biggest in africa but we do not have the education to back it up. Look at nitel, aladja steel plant and all the massive oil refineries, kainji dam we do not have the education in the country to maintain this project. You cannot build a massive project and give it to illiterate the project will collapse overnights. Nnpc is making a loss of more than 2 million us dollar a day. People get employed at these companies with no innovation no idea no planning. These mega projects are destroying the country to oblivion. Lagos debt to revenue generation is 900% .look at Microsoft or apple they started in garage became big the same thing with a lot of kenyan companies. Butt in nigeria we start giant and become small.

They should emulate what Kenya does grin

You mentioned Durumi? Mpape and others? Durumi is where I used to live in Abuja.

***** Kindly look at the pictures below showing houses for rent in Durumi & Mpape.

(sighs) God, how do I explain these things to you guys to understand? Ok let me start somewhere for you Kikuyu1 and NairobiWalker who have quoted me on slum topics.

¤¤¤ A slum is supposed to be a community with a heart of it's own just like Makoko or Kibera. A slum is supposed to have it's own schools, government representative centres, polling units, possibly health centres e.t.c in other words, a life of it's own.

This is what you cannot find in Nigeria apart from Makoko. You Kenyans just find it hard to believe.

Perhaps because you think our country should definitely be like yours (pls I do not mean this in a demeaning manner). What I meant was that, you guys expect your housing systems and that of ours to be the same. But it is not. We do not have the same housing systems.

•••••••• In most urban parts of Nigeria, the rich, the middleclass and the poor sometimes live together in the same suburb. People can buy lands almost in any part of the city and develop it to taste, that is why you can find beautiful mansions and gated houses in predominantly low income areas with parts which may pass for a slum.
So, let's say in Mpape suburb, there are neighbourhoods which can pass as a slum, in same Mpape, you'll find more beautiful middleclass estates and houses as you can see from the picture below.
So, in the real sense, those slummish neighbourhoods are not the definition of what Mpape is. They are just an illegal section of Mpape which managed to develop in a short time evading the attention of the environmental authorities. However, they cannot evade the environmental authorities for so long grin, so they get demolished in a very short time (search google for demolition in Mpape and see for yourself).

***** This is why when you guys mention any Nigerian suburb which you think is a full blown slum, we will show you guys beautiful houses and estates from that same place.
The only place we cannot do that for is Makoko! This is because Makoko is what it is! A full blown slum. A community with a heart of it's own. Lagos state govt has tried to demolish Makoko, but it failed because how do you just destroy an entire community with over a hundred thousand people?
¿¿¿ However, google demolitions in Abuja and see a whole lot of developing slummish neighbourhoods being demolished year in year out... Our former FCT minister who is now the governor of Kaduna state (El Rufai), his nick name is MAI RUSAU (which roughly translates DEMOLITION MAN in hausa language grin). The name was given to him because of the way he demolished every springing illegal settlement of Abuja while he was the minister of the city.

****** So, here is the new! The illegal house builders are now moving to the village settlements of the indigenous natives of Abuja city who were resettled outside Abuja. This is because they know that the government cannot easily go and destroy the villages of these natives.
So, yes, FCT (and not Abuja) may start having slums in the future if the government doesn't start invading these indigenous villages cos this was exactly how Makoko evolved, from an indigenous fishing village.

Splendid and perfect explanation girl. I couldn't have said it better.
Kenyans have heads like coconuts, so expect them to still reply you with rubbish after your perfect elucidation.

These guys just can't live with the reality that living in slums like Kibera is not just a Nigerian thing.
Kenyans even have slums that are a collection of multiple slums grin How bad can it get?

It's very true. Nigerian buildings, streets and aerial views tend to have very limited pictures online.
**** For instance there are very beautiful parts of Kaduna and Jos that I would like to have posted here, but one just can't find them online.

>>> It seems like Kenyan cities and buildings have more pictoral views than Nigeria's, perhaps for tourist reasons.

It is in legal in nigeria to take somebody's property and then put it online without getting permission from that person because there is a lot of fraud going on in the country. I found out this the hard way 8 years ago when I visited nigeria we took some pictures in the university in nigeria and put the pictures on a online forum and chat group. One month later we were told by the chart group to pull down the pictures we did not get permission from the university.

You see why I called you an obnoxious person? Can you show me one sentence where I called Kenyans ugly?

Your insults are normally subtle - that's the reason I say you're a hypocrite. Making indirect low jabs while at the same time trying to play good - for instance you've been going on talking about grooming, (really? How are you even able to tell how Kenyans groom when you've never been to Kenya?), Don't have a sense of style (have you been to Kenya again). You would say something like 'I don't really find them as attractive as Nigerians' and think you're such a good person. Well, I see right through your bull.sh.it.

***** I only said that I find Tanzanians more charming than Kenyans. And this is definitely due to the dozens and dozens of East Africans I see on television.

These are some of the things that make me call you a hypocrite. Which television is that that you watch? Which station? All Tanzanian programs are in Swahili, can you speak Swahili? So how do you make the judgment from TV? Would you spend hours watching a TV station that speaks a language you don't understand to the extent of understanding a given people? Once again, stop being an expect on things you have no idea of, Naijalander already told you that. He lives in Nairobi and understands East Africa better than you.

I watch a lot of East African music and sometimes tune into East African dramas. I have seen quite many east Africans at least for me to have an opinion.

Name those East African dramas you watch and the exact station

>>>> All black women are beautiful !
There is a big difference between charming and beautiful.
Being charming comes down to a likeable, attractive and fascinating personality while being beautiful just boils down to mostly facial appearance....

ΔΔΔ naijalander, I am not talking about ladies alone. Hey, I am a lady and look out mostly for the guys wink For instance, not until I came across a new Kenyan singer called THE BEN, I had never found any Kenyan male musician so attractive. But in Tanzania? In Congo? OMG I find their men so charming with an extremely unique fashion sense.
I hope you get my point.

1. There's no Kenyan musician called THE BEN - reason I'm asking you to stop having an opinion on things you don't understand.

2. Which Kenyan musicians are those you don't find attractive? How many Kenyan musicians do you know? Below is a photo of Otile Brown, a Kenyan and Don-Jazzy, a Nigerian musician. Can you look me in the face and say Don-Jazzy so much more attractive than Otile Brown that you can make a decision such as what you just made above?

3. With statements like this you still want me to quote you a post where you said Kenyans are ugly? You're so hypocritical you can't see through your hypocrisy.

I think we've gone through this severally. Kenya cities - like many other modern cities - have slums. some of them megaslums. What we don't generally have is mish-mash of slums and posh areas that makes the whole city a slum. Ibandan is a slum metropolis. KANO city is one of world biggest slum city. Kinshahasa is a slum metropolis. Lagos is also a slum metropolis.

How do cities stop slums from spreading. By strictly enforcing building codes. In Nairobi and many kenya cities - there are restriction in every area - areas you are not allowed to build anything less than 5 acres (KAREN), areas you can only build in acre, areas you can only builld low rise building, areas you can only build 2 floors, areas only 4 floors are allowed, areas restricted to industries, areas for offices only - no residential apartments, areas for animals, forests and etc.

Nigeria has allowed anybody to build anything. That is why the only way out of it is to build planned cities - cities within a city - for those desiring order.

How do you for example fix KANO city? This is 5M slumpolis.

Nairobi slums occupy 5% of the land - and it very hard to see if you take aerial picture of Nairobi - and are easy to solve. The problem is localized and contained.

Lady, just because there are nice houses nearby doesn't mean there is no slum. Even in Kenya, slums border very high class neighborhoods.

So you want to change the definition of the word slum to suit your hypocrisy? Please google the word slum and see what it means.

This is what you cannot find in Nigeria apart from Makoko. You Kenyans just find it hard to believe.

Lady, there are slums in Nigeria, hundreds of slums. It's interesting how hard you try to paint a rosy picture or Nigeria yet accuse Kenyans if doing the same. Those pictures Kikuyu posted are slums. There's a popular photo on this thread that shows a slum right in the middle of a commercial area in Lagos.

Perhaps because you think our country should definitely be like yours (pls I do not mean this in a demeaning manner). What I meant was that, you guys expect your housing systems and that of ours to be the same. But it is not. We do not have the same housing systems.

I'll agree with you on that, we do not. Kenyans have on average better housing than Nigerians with better sewage, water and electricity connection.

That's just effed up. No wonder most of your cities are extremely ugly.

However, they cannot evade the environmental authorities for so long grin, so they get demolished in a very short time (search google for demolition in Mpape and see for yourself).
Lady, all slums are illegal. The whole of Kibera is illegal, the whole of Makoko is illegal. using the illegal status of Nigerian slums to claim they're not slums is just absurd.

You're a special case. I can't understand how somebody can be shown pictures of a slum, a real slum, and still deny it's not a slum just because it borders a high end neighborhood.

Ethiopia issue is very complicated. Abiy may not succeeded in keeping Ethiopia one.

However, can you please show me one statement I made where I denied the existence of dark skinned Nigerians? Failure for you to do that should be a shame to you, showing how you try to force words into people's mouth in an utter display of behaviours which reeks childishness and absurdity.

>>>>> If I can remember clearly from the past, all I asserted were facts that Nigerians dress better than Kenyans and Nigerians have more light-skinned people than Kenyans and yeah! the fact that what Kenyans deem as normal dark skinned people were regarded as extremely dark skinned people here in Nigeria.
Hell yeah, I still stand by these words. Just that I may no longer be interested in highlighting these points anymore cos they may make me tow a path of seemingly bigoted expressions which I do not wish to embark on. Thanks smiley

Which light skinned Nigerians are you talking about seriously? grin grin these Osuofias and John Okafors?
