Oyo state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Monday commissioned the Safe City project which ncludes the siting of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in 10 crime-prone areas in Ibadan.

The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSSTF), Mr Femi Oyedipe, disclosed that over N300 million has been expended in installing the CCTVs across the state to boost security.

The cameras, which feed a control room under a round-the-clock surveillance, monitor actvities at major junctions in the city.

Oyedipe who harped on the need for individuals and organisations in the state to pay their security levies, assured that with the installation of CCTVs in 10 sites in Ibadan, additional 10 sites are to be located in Oyo, Ogbomoso and Saki areas of the state.

He noted that the response had been commendable since OYSSTF began the collection of the security levy in July. He however urged residents and visitors n the state to coperate with the government to ensure a safer and secured environment for all.

I hate to admit it, but it's still a necessary infrastructure. CCTVs like these are usually equipped with solar panels so the issue of power is already solved. Whether there's a database or not, the cameras, if monitored and maintained properly, would help solve a lot of problems like traffic congestion, security issues and so on.

I know a lot of our politicians could be useless, but we have to start from somewhere as a people. This is still a reasonable project.

The electricity that powered the system in the pictures came from where? From the MOON.

Do you really think the folks involved did not do their research or factor in the power situation before setting up the system?

You think you are smart and know more than other people, I bet given the opportunity to do something, you will not do anything to protect your people and instead sit on your hands for decades until you have stable electricity before you lift a finger.

I keep saying, Nigerian youths are not ready to govern because they think very backward, they have a can't do spirit, they are totally in a state of apathy and mental stagnation.

Misplaced priority. Where is the electricity to power the CCTV?
My phone was stolen at an international airport in Africa, when I asked for review of the CCTV, they told me they forgot to put it on. Airport for that matter oo

Nigerian youth, stop thinking like a lazy person, you are supposed to look for creatives ways to overcome obstacles.

Your challenges shouldn't define you or limit your capacity to overcome, these old folks are proving to you that nothing is impossible.

Sometimes I thank God that Nigerian youths are not in charge of anything because they are too negative and incapable of doing anything..

You have no moral justification calling other Nigerians lazy youth. Or not same you that spent all your life supporting politicians. I have never seen you condemning any action of this Apc led government or are you saying all their policies have been 100% okay?

We don't live by politics. We condemned when due and applaused when necessary.

Or what do you want to tell me about constituted authority?

1. You don't know anything and you can not function beyond negativity, cynism, and pessimism when in fact creative ways to better and build on what others are doing.

2. What's GEJ looting and stealing government got to do with CCTV in Oyo state? Was the contract given to the same people, was it awarded by the same people and are the same people going to manage the CCTV in Ibadan?

I know your type, if I say it's raining outside today, right now, you will say it's a lie because it did not rain yesterday, you criticize everything by default just because you don't see yourself doing anything meaningful if, given the same opportunity like the Oyo state governor, you just prefer to sit on the internet and with negativity and ignorance.

If you people are truly the leaders of tomorrow, then Nigeria is doomed.

Firstly, let me make something clear to you. You have a wrong impression about me. Do you know why? Cos you are blinded by politics.

For your mind now I am Atikulate? No, I love Buhari personally plus Osibanjo factor so I want their re-elections but that doesn't mean I shouldn't condemned them when they make a bad policy which is very hard for you Apc's supporters. Same as Pdp supporters. Pdp supporters can never see anything good in Apc's government

As long as you belong to a political party, your opinion and reasoning will always be one sided. I am independent with my reasoning. But in your own case, you can never act outside your party order. Who is lazy youth between us?

Instead of spending all your day praise singing politicians, convert the energy to something positive and wait for the outcome.

Peace bro!

Boy, common sense would tell you that such venture would be powered by solar. If you were in Oyo govt shoe in terms of this CCTV and truly you want it to work, what would you have done differently and better?

Bro relax, this is not a fight contest.

My point, is as long you are political, you can only see things in one way. Same way you sometimes wonder how on earth will someone supports Atiku. The CCTV launching is a good initiative but still misplaced priority. This is not about Nigerians don't have maintenance culture, Ajimobi himself lacks the maintenance. It may be hard for you to see it but I am talking as someone who do not associate with any political party but cares about the development of his region.

Btw, did they actually spend N300m for the installations at the 10 sites?

As long as you are an Apc supporters, even if they are wrong, it would be hard for you to see it. Same way some people believed Jubril story.
