Sure no need to use overwhelming force when faced with crowds like that, at the same time we have certain groups in that country that have no respect for the rule of law nor respect the right of others to their property. Some people in that crowd were throwing stones, and soldiers do have the right to self defense, but when assailants are mixed with unarmed civilians, it become dicey , but such force shouldn't have been used, kicking and beating people like that is part of the unprofessionalism we've been talking about, all they had to do was detain those they caught and take them to custody, no need for the assault. Both sides are at fault here. If told to disperse ,why not respect that? Instead of literally trying to overrun men with guns, what did you think was gonna happen? What would you do if hundreds of angry people descend on your position? Fight hand to hand? They used the only tool they had, that was their gun. Not saying anything here was right, but both sides are to blame, you can't attack or confront armed troops and expect them to stand there and watch while being stoned to death. |

CaptainStephen:I wouldn't bother trying to reason with certain people here. Boko Haram and other terrorist and not well meaning organisations are succeeding in their propaganda and turning people against each other. There are thousands of soldiers in the North East fighting bravely, but no, base everything on a few terrorist edited videos. The same soldiers will be there whatever political party is in power. The security services recruit from the populace. Maybe Nigerians should look in the mirror. |

rka2:Buhari's administration is controlled by extremist Sunni cabals. That was why they could easily send Guards Brigade to perform their dirty jobs. Nigerian Police would have handled the brainwashed and suicidal shia protesters much better but they had to send heavily armed soldiers. These people keep bringing shame to the country. |

Xbee007:Demonstrations should be policed by anti-riot Police and a lot of armed banditry around the country by MoPo and CT/COIN Police units. The .militarily is for external aggression and internal insurrection. More investment in the Police and other para-military agencies is badly needed. |

I don't if anybody has ever seen things like this before, that if Nigeria does get it's acts together, Boko Haram would be a childs play compared to what the country would be facing in future, to the north of Nigeria is the entire Arab world where anything can happen at anytime, what happen when all the weapons of Algerian and Egyptian armies suddenly falls in the wrong hands, not to talk of morroco, Sudan, Chad, remnants of Isis, there is a Chinese military base in Djibouti. There was a time CNN talked about Boko Haram reaching Lagos, many folk on beegeagles blog and here looked at it as a far cry, but if you take geophysical map and look at Nigeria's position, you would see how vulnerable the country really is, but I am not even sure an average Nigerian looks at maps the only thing they know is their state of origin |

I dont know much about his security details, but in their defense, some people prefer to go to farm without their details. I am very aware of 3 guards for a high ranking military officer (still serving). He likes to go hunting with his dane gun, and creates all sort of logistical issues for the boys. It seems to me Badeh was well in his comfort zone, from the pictures. Also, he must be driving a bulletproof car, so he probably voluntarily opened the door to the assailants. |

That's a disgusting thing to say, his pot belly? You posted a picture of a man who has just being victimized, killed and you are making fun of his belly? Seriously? That's effed up dude. Regardless of what he did or didn't do, no need for such senseless remark. I don't know the man, and don't support any political party, before anyone think I'm Buhari's forgotten son krattoss: |

Sizzorkay:bro no one came out of nowhere to shoot the man. It must be those he wronged directly or indirectly that must have came to clap back at him. His goons will sure go for the culprits and directly or indirectly settle the scores. Then the game goes on and on. As for his potbelly, that was just an observation. No strings attached. No puns intended. |

Sometimes I wonder how we take everything to be politics. Things like this have been a long time coming. This country is awash with guns, likely because of the conflict in the north east and the militancy in the south south. It did happen after the civil war. This man might have been assinated, the question is by who? Maybe aggrieved family members of slain military men in the north east that feel he should be in jail but moving freely. It could also be a robbery attempt, it's been happening everywhere, this one is just a high profile person. |
