Xisnin:DARE TO SIDE WITH THE MATIONAL ASSEMBLY ON THIS ISSUE ? 1000 million times 17 ? Lobbying ? Really ? So let's all just agree you know more about numbers than mrs okonjo-iweala to know that 17 billion naira is no alarming figure for a country's finance minister to deem as ' lobbying ' . And oh , speaking of ' sttandard practice ' in every democracy , remind me again which american congressman is in jail for demanding for ' lobbying ' money for a certain african leader ? |

BENEAMATA:I dare anyone to provide evidence of any lawmaker receiving part of the 17 billion Naira. The citizens are being fooled because most don't read and are practically illiterate. The lawmakers are not saints but that doesn't give anyone a right to manufacture news. |

sweetgala:I am also familiar with how the NASS works. The truth is that nothing goes for free whether bills or confirmation. Nobody is denying that NASS members are money-hungry but creating fake news to discredit them because they refuse to rubber-stamp Buhari's decisions. The topic suggest that the former minister doled out cash bribe to NASS members when none of them got credited with the 17 billion. |

Felixv: Did you read the book? If yes, on which page did she claim to have paid 17 billion Naira bribe to NASS members. I will retract my statement if you do. The only quote attributed to NOI is this article is this: "“Their operational budget had ballooned to N150 billion or 16 per cent of the budget and almost 3.5 times the 2006 budget (in naira).” Every other thing was the writer's imagination. |

Xisnin: Are you arguing that the NASS has been illegally inflating the budget yearly something which has gotten out of hand since OBJ gave them bags of Ghana must go and handed them a free hand in the pursuit of a third term. If you are not aware I am bringing you what is a verified open secret within the political elite, that 17million would have been disbursed to the NASS members through the leadership who would negotiate |

Xisnin: Stop blaming the article for your own ignorance, inability to read and comprehend and love and support for corrupt people, these are excerpts from her own book. The woman wrote in her book that she bribed them to get her budget passed and this joker is spewing rubbish about constituency projects. Do you know more than the woman You are obviously the illiterate here. |

sweetgala:Don't liberally talk about legality. Please quote the section of the constitution which bars NASS from reducing or increasing parts of budgetary allocation. [qupte] If you are not aware I am bringing you what is a verified open secret within the political elite, that 17million would have been disbursed to the NASS members through the leadership who would negotiate
I don't deal in supposition, provide proof that NOI withdrew 17 billion and gave it to senators. I will never fall for fake sensationalist news. |

They're talking about bribery....condemn this bribery first with your intelligence intact, before you go back to your rabble rousing. If you keep quiet in the face of this wrong done to Nigerians because of sentiments, then you're part of Nigerias problems. |

Xisnin:So if lobbying is the norm in US, that means it must be the norm in Nigeria too. You guys keep on copying US governmental processes thinking it is the best example for a bleeped up country like Nigeria. What Is the essence of lobbying if not greed, then what is the purpose of being representatives if they're representing themselves. 1 Like 1 Share |

Slimpotter:The problem with your view is that it is incompatible with democracy. When the reps believe that there are There is no need for legislature or judiciary if a single man can dictate the agenda for the whole country. You essentially want a dictatorship. Even Chinese leaders with one party system do backroom compromises on national issues. |
Re: We Gave (BRIBE) Lawmakers N17bn To Pass 2015 Budget - Okonjo-iweala by Slimpotter(m): 4:23pm On Dec 22, 2018 |
Xisnin:Last time I checked the CPC does not need to lobby their national people's congress which is their legislative arm to do anything. The party already makes the decisions within the standing committee of the central committee. Now back to compromising. It is because of this same legislative arm that government is slow and ineffective. This system of government breeds corruption as also seen in the US through their lobbying tactics. It's better to change this system if not no matter the government that's in power, there will never be 60% utilization of the budget |
Re: We Gave (BRIBE) Lawmakers N17bn To Pass 2015 Budget - Okonjo-iweala by Xisnin(m): 6:53pm On Dec 22, 2018 |
Slimpotter:The CPC engages in lobbying, they don't just publicize it. There are opposition groups even within the CPC. Even the process of choosing the president involves lobbying, compromises, and voting. Lobbying is found within all civilized societies. I will only support this bill if you credit my account with 10 million - that is bribery and extortion. Include a road project to my village so I can support the unusually large allocation to your ministry - that is lobbying. Got it? |
