So the vice president prof yemi osinbajo was in delta state yesterday for the "tradermoni" campaign. I got talking with a colleague on the impact of this very initiative of the Federal government, it was then it occurred to me the said loan was even less than $30 (using the exchange rate of #361 to $1).
What government will go about giving out $30 loan to its citizens in the name of poverty alleviation?

The pump and charade accompanying this scheme plus the logistics involved in getting the vice president move from state to state in the guise of supervision of the disbursement is way high than the monies given out. Saw i picture of a supposedly rice trader on instagram collecting the #10,000 loan. And i asked myself, how much is a bag of rice sold currently in the market that a rice trader would collect 10k loan to get his business booming?
For a stock fish seller, how much is a bag of stock fish in the market that a $30 loan from the government will make her break even.

I went on tradermoni web site and discovered that the government run about 15 minutes program on over 25 radio stations to publicize this very scheme. But the question is all the money spent to run these 15 minutes program is in whose interest, to help the government launder its image or help the poor masses.
A government that is heading for a crucial elections in less than 3months time is having its vice president traveling from one state to the other giving out #10,000 to the people has no other intent than to influence the people's feelings and emotions.

Something good and new is happening and some people are complaining and running around like headless chickens. Why? Are they enemies of progress.

In Nigeria, majority of ordinary Nigerians have not benefited from government programs. It is usually hijacked by politicians. Even the Amnesty program suffered the same fate. Here, the Vice-president is making personal sacrifices to make sure it gets to the targeted benefiaciaries. It is important we get it right and build on the experience for more social programs.

Tradermoni is not a free money but soft loan. If you get the initial amount and repay appropriately, you will be entitled to bigger amount. Every faithful repayment is rewarded by higher amount. Through this program, culture of "borrow and repay"will be cultivated,cwhich is good for our banking system in supporting micro and small businesses. It is properly thought out program that is being improved as implementation goes on.

What Nigerians need is not a $30 handouts from the federal government.
* We need good roads
* Electricity
* Good healthcare
* Good schools for our children and youths
* Adequate security of life and property.

A woman who leaves her daughter at home for work deserves to get home and not meet her raped, kidnapped or killed for rituals.
A farmer can go to farm and not worry about being hacked to death by marauders.
Children don't need to die for sickness that can be easily treated if our healthcare system is functional. With adequate and steady electricity, entrepreneurs will spring up from every nook and cranny of the country without government having to give then $30 loan.

I'm aware of a barber who collected the trader moni yesterday in delta, and I asked
Is a barber now a trader? What is he going to do with the loan, that money will definitely not pay the rent of that shop, it can't even get him a new generator set except maybe buying of fuel for his current generator. Then who takes a loan to fuel his generator?

You are ignorant!

The N10k is the initial loan which qualifies you for higher sums as you pay back. It's structured to reduce exposure because it's not collateralized. Those who get N10k now, can get 15k, 20k, 50k and up to 100k later.

Nigerians don't get accurate info before reacting.

Wow...too many abundant arrogantly ignorant folks like you abound on this platform and its no mistake that someone actually called youths like you lazy-actually intellectually lazy!

When in the history of Nigeria was there such an initiative to reach folks at the grassroots?

N10,000 to you might not mean much but to that petty trader selling pepper on a tray by the roadside means! Do you know how much LAPO give to petty traders and still end up hounding them when they fail to pay? I have seen a petty trader locked up all up because of small money like this!

And its not like it stops at N10k!

Complain all you may, but these traders are feeling the trader moni scheme-remember its collateral free!

Why do you think there's a rise in Fintech? I mean collateral free platforms like pay later!

That was how folks like you bashed the Npower scheme all because of your hate-riddled mind and whether you know it or not a family member/relation of yours has either applied or is benefiting from this noble scheme!

Go and google Mohammed Yunus and find out what made him a Nobel Laureate! Oh let me help you, he is a Nobel laureate because of a scheme like this from his Grameen Bank!

If it pains you that this government is "campaigning" by reaching the grassroots then ask yourself that if PDP government had a scheme like this running for the past 16years, you and I know we won't b where we are now but No folks like you that love thieves would rather that our money be shared to a select few!

Anyway nothing stops Atiku from coin same... Anyway some folks r already duping folks by collecting N200 for N50k Atiku grant...

You're just pathetic, the world doesn't revolve around apc/pdp. Who gives a fvck about party politic. like I said earlier, $30 loan by government to people is nothing but to sway people's feelings and emotions and from your rant up there it's already working.

Nobody is against tradermoni. The hypocrisy here is the vice president given out a paltry sum of $30 (#10,000), which in all honesty does not alleviate anyone from poverty as the scheme is intended.

Before you start calling pdp and 16 years take a look at the picture below , i don't have any friend or family member in pdp, myself I'm not a member of any political party neither do I support any. What we all want is the betterment of our people and a #10,000 loan does not do that.

I believe you are the ignorant one here.
You can go through my post to enlighten yourself. What I'm saying is that a loan by the federal government of #10,000 does not achieve anything other than tinker with people's feelings and emotions, it only launders the image of the government heading into the elections.

The aim of the whole tradermoni scheme was to help boost business and lift over 2,000,000 petty traders out of poverty. How then is 10,000 loan going to achieve that. Mind you, this loan is not restricted to the pepper and vegetables seller. A woman who sells "iced fish" in the market also gets it, can this money buy a carton of fish? Cus for you to pay back the initial 10k, you have to first break even.
If the government really wanted to help the people without a hidden motive #10,000 handouts in the market place with propaganda and cameras is the best way to go about it.
