Just go through the posts of some Nigerians who have never left the shores of Nigeria and you will see their ignorant statements. Even on this thread, some couldn't understand the cultural significance of Black Panther to African Americans and other blacks in the West.

There are even Nigerians here on Nairaland that claim that African Americans are lazy and depend on the white man- without seeing the racism and irony in that belief. We as Nigerians import and swallow all goods produced by foreigners.

Privilege builds a certain ignorance. Myself included. It costs N1500 to N3000 to watch a movie in the cinema. Now, I used to make fun of people who chose to wait 3 months to download blockbuster movies. I just couldn't believe that 3000 Naira was too much for a working person to afford. That was the product of my privilege. And I am a Nigerian living in Nigeria (although I did live in Europe when I was younger).

When Marvel makes a movie without a Thor dicking around with a hammer, a man turning to a tiny ant, hulk raging, captain America with his shield and gang, a man in metal suit and his gang, Dr strange, vision, black panther and a teen Spiderman and flash -flash? And Superman knocked him out cold- all rolled up in one then it will be cool. Marvel is just a no no for now, wanna watch superheroes movies I'll look elsewhere thank you.

Of course I was just dicking around with the 'it's a horror movie' line. Remember that scene with deadpool narrative where he says 'did I say this was a romantic movie...' Yeah yeah deadpool still a solid 8/10
