Petrol Availability During Christmas Season - Only Criminals will celebrate it! What is it with people celebrating the absence of long lines at petrol stations this Christmas season? The Buhari government jacked up the pump price of petrol from N86 per liter to N145 per liter, representing a nearly 70 percent jump. That’s the steepest petrol price hike in one go in Nigeria’s history, and it’s basically a cowardly capitulation to the rapacious oil cabal. Celebrating the absence of petrol scarcity in December is informed by the twisted presupposition that petrol is supposed to be scarce in spite of its unusually high price, its unaffordability to a large swath of Nigerians with stagnant or no salaries, and the hyperinflationary conflagration—and recession— it has ignited. No, it would have been double jeopardy if petrol were scare IN ADDITION to being extortionately priced and unaffordable. There is no cause for celebration here, folks. I would celebrate if petrol were affordable and available. Only masochists with a perverse love for self-injury celebrate their own oppression and thank their oppressors for it. I also think that because we’ve had to endure serial disappointments from our rulers, we have set the bar of expectations so low that we are easily impressed by the most commonplace things, such as the world’s 6th largest oil exporter making (inordinately priced) fuel available to its own citizens (during Christmas)! |

@ op let for once give kudos to FG. This is the first time in Nigeria that we do not have fuel scarcity at December. Is this the first December to an election? |
