Promise Chukwudum, a student at the University of Regina, in Saskatchewan, Canada, has been found dead more than a month after he went missing. Police found his corpse in a creek area behind the Shell gas station on the corner of Sherwood Drive and McIntosh Street, at about 4:45 p.m. on December 21, 2018.

The 19-year-old Computer Science student and rugby player went missing in the early hours of November 17. The police said there was no indication Chukwudum’s death was a result of criminal act.

The Regina Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are conducting a death investigation to fully understand the circumstances of his death. As of Dec. 10, police said they had to consider the possibility that he may have sought shelter somewhere from the cold, because the night he disappeared, the temperatures dipped below -20 C.

Canadian police had nothing do to with his death.

He died as a result of extreme cold.

Living abroad is not all that rosy as some people are painting it.

If only Nigeria can be fixed, many people would prefer staying back than travelling out. But unfortunately government alone can not fix the country. It's a collective responsibility between government and citizens to make a country work.

All the democratic elected government from 1999 to date kept on coming with different good policies to make Nigeria work but it kept on failing due to the simple fact that Nigerians refused to change their ways.

Yes, I know some elements of our government officials are corrupt but that shouldn't stop us from developing.

Take Kenya for instance, they have an extremely corrupt government but they are developing because they have refined citizens.

Nigeria as it's today, can not be fixed and it can not work whether Buhari or Atiku wins next year's presidential elections without us the citizens changing our mentality and way of doing things.

Thank you. This is a different perspective. People always think that Nigeria major problem is good leadership and followers dont have anything to contribute.

i agree strongly with you.90% of the problem is caused by the people.corruption is a big thing and can't be totally eradicated by any government. it can only be reduced with time.corruption starts with the ordinary people on the street and then at the peak in government.living abroad is not as easy as people think and every country has got it own challenges.the issue in nigeria is that the people support corruption and I can't believe yhat some people like an administration because despite the high level of corruption ,the people still have a little enjoyment .it's a case of somebody stealing billions and keeping the people silent with only 100 naira.corruption starts when a young boy buys an expensive jeep and nobody questions the source because he uses his evil money to help people.its when parent are happy with ill gotten wealth of their children without questioning source.i must say in the developed country.the government knows what everybdoy earns and any unusual amount in your account is questioned .in Nigeria,it's opposite. people have unexplained money in account .thry are supported by bankers and bank managers to loot .

Gbam, not only Kenya, if you visit Rwanda, Botswana, Mauritius, and Seychelles, you will weep and regret for been a Nigerian, I agree with your points, Nigeria as a nation is beyond redemption, with all the resources in Nigeria, it is still a jungle and the current headquarters of poverty, the citizens have lost hope of Nigeria ever becoming better, PDP AND APC is not the answer, the entire foundation of Nigeria as a country is faulty, that is why you see the mass migration of Nigerians to different parts of the world, l left Nigeria years ago and anytime l visit briefly, I weep because the status quo still remains the same sad

before you blame the followers, blame the leaders. Leadership determines the road and line of action the citizens wil follow. Jesus led his disciples and showed them the way of life and not the other way round.

Crime and indiscipline has become a norm because the elite has chosen it as a way of life, it will indirectly spiral into a societal menace. Trace the route of kidnapping, ritualism and whatnots u'll agree with me it all started from the elite.

Thomas Hobbes in his hobbesian state of nature states that "man is by nature cruel, nasty and brutish, and will do anything whatsoever to survive". Nigeria is in a similar state. He states further that unless we surrender our individual sovereignty and cruelty to the state(govt), the society will not exist peacefully.

The essence of having govt then is for the govt to do for the people what the people cannot do for themselves. The people cannot provide roads, cannot provide security, cannot provide jobs etc,. Its now the duty of the govt to provide all these. If Nigerians can obey the laws when they leave the shores of Nigeria then this clearly shows that the citizens are neva the problem but how the society or leadership is structured.

And it's only the elite or political class that can correct this anomalies by entrenching strong institutions and mechanisms of checkmating and redirecting Nigeria. No matter how the citizens work hard, if the elite continue to pilfer our common patrimony, poverty, hunger and crime will continue to exist. You cannot rework Nigeria without first reworking the elite. 1983-85 during the first stint of Buhari is a classic example that Nigerians can be redirected only of the rulership reorient themselves.
