Watch How Nigeria Was Once Respected By America, What Went Wrong?

Look at the pumps and pageantry Nigeria was once revered in America. Today, our presidents visit America unnoticed.

The snap and have hand shakes with American president and it's celebrated and made a campaign achievement. Rochas Okorocha shook Obama and erected a bill board in Omo.

I ask again, what went wrong?

Can we ever return to this height?

PDP happened. That's it. They came this way and left us bare.

New addition:
Feedbacks from PDP supporters show they would rather blame the military rulers. Fair enough!
The truth is that military hand-over of power to democratically elected PDP government in 1999 was a huge opportunity to rebuild Nigeria. After 16years of looting and abandoned projects, Nigeria's peers left it further behind. 16 years in a life of a nation is massive. PDP deserves heavy knocks for messing up big time.

The civil war was where Nigeria lost it. When a small ,
Unprepared biafran enclave with only 17 rifles brutalized what was supposedly the military of the giant of Africa backed by Britain ,Soviet union ,east Germany ,Egypt ,Ireland ,Sudan ,Niger ,Chad, cameroon , Arab world etc for30 months ,so much so that Soviet union was embarrassed by the ineptitude of Nigerian military and Nigeria had no option but rely on non combatant tactics of starving women and children also justifying it with the saying that all was fair in war.
It came to a height when the poorly armed biafrans wiped out 90% of the second division with an improvised, locally made ogbunigwe operated by a battalion led by a major uchendu in a small town of Abagana south eastern Nigeria.

Nigeria won the battle but lost the war . And lost it's respect and reputation before the world .

Biafra lost the battle but won the respect, admiration and a dignified reputation before the world.

Yet 80% of APC members are from PDP. What difference does it make

What went wrong is when Buhari came in 1983 as military and 2015 as civilian.

But mostly is the gullibility of Nigerians and the politics of hatred.

The north has 82% blame of the status quo. They are the problem of the south.

Without the north, southern Nigeria as a country will be the pride of Africa.

Argue with your ancestors

Followership reflects the character of the leader. Whatever the followers do that the leader encourages and participates in becomes deeply embeded in the organization's DNA and culture. Corruption was enthroned and made a monarch in PDP.

We as her citizens are the cause. We tend not to vote the right leader because of our own pocket.

Now, every other countries are very harsh on Nigerians.

Every day tribalism, ritualism,cultism,killings,looting... Other countries do read about Nigeria, so with all that had been happening, if you were a president of one of those countries, would you be kind to Nigerians? wouldn't you scrutinize them?

Giant of Africa.

We had leaders who didn't work for that reputation so it was easier to tarnish it slowly.

They are still tarnishing it, caring about self interest instead of National interest unlike our founding fathers.

I remember reading "A Raisin in the Sun"

Beneath a wanted to come to Nigeria so bad in it..

But now when I chat with my white friends they ask me..

..If every Nigerian is a scammer.
...If every Nigerian has Ebola..
...Why we want to invade their country
...Why our politicians always invest abroad.

And I tell them..

You asked right.
The Nigerian situation stems from the selfishness that has come to be known to characterize the persona of the average Nigerian...

This is made clearer in our political world for instance where what matters to the average politician is that he wins... that courtesy and decorum is suspended, falsehood peddled against another, the opposition is ridiculed and insulted and in many cases lives lost, etc. do not matter to our politicians is enough premise for such degradation Nigeria now face...

The panacea is that we need an ideology that lays all emphasis on peace and national cohesion.
Re: Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Welcomed In America In 1961 by Trulie(m): 10:20pm On Dec 31, 2018
No we can't get there and am very sorry to say that. Not as long as Nigerian youths refuse to revolt against the old preeqs called politicians we have. It's time we use social media for the right reason. It's time we chart a course for the future of the country. It's time we get together and form a movement to change this country.
