It should not, and i would explain with my own personal experience. when i came to Canada, Nigerians i meet in Canada were telling me i can not get a professional job, that the job i will get is support worker, no Nigerian spoke positivity to my life. No body told me i could go to school and upgrade myself more. all they keep telling me is that i should pick 3 care jobs, i will make more money at the expense of my career oh . can you imagine ? And meanwhile some of these guys are not doing the care job. Honestly their is nothing wrong doing the health support work or care job, but why should people project much negativity into my life. with the level of professionalism i have back home from Nigeria. Their also many things i can not tell you here, so many negative experience and wrong advise from Nigerians. It is sad, i have avoided everything Nigeria since i came to Canada, from church to meetings or parties. I told myself if i want to make progress i must think like oyinbo and talk like oyinbo , i would not be able to achieve that if i stay with people with so much negativity and jealousy. Again you can understand my stand point here.

Once again, read this entire thread from page 1 and then tell me if you can't learn anything from Nigerians.
If you say that those Nigerians on this thread can't be of any help to you, then I am afraid you are your own curse.

I have learned more from Nigerians on Nairaland than I have learned from Oyinbo.
One day I will put down my testimony as to what Nairaland has done for me.

I guess you cant blame the entire community because of few bad apples

Furthermore, you are complaining how the Nigerian community didn't help you, what about yourself have you been helping people?

It is always someone else's fault

your last statement about what have i done to help, no one has requested for my help here. if any one ask for my help or advice i would give gladly, again my focus or discuss was not on Nigerians in nairaland forum, i was talking about Nigerians where i am here. To add more these same Nigerians like to backbit and gossip, if you are not careful home or family can be ruined if you are married, for real i am talking from experience, i know now experience is the worst teacher.

I think you need to change your circle of Nigerian friends in Canada.

like i said no comments going forward on this matter. The level of ones knowledge determines a man progress and trajectory.

Too many people that I know have made good progress since they landed here in their respective endeavours without cutting any corner. If it involves beating the system then it's not legit!

I noticed that there is part 2 of this same thread already started when this current thread is still opened. The part 2 is here:

I will suggest that we keep only one thread opened at a time to avoid confusion.

This guy, I intentionally didn't go into detail because I know he isn't taking me seriously. His SIN number is his DNA and you use it for almost everything here. He doesn't know from the moment he got his visa in Africa, the day he landed in Canada, till today, everything is recorded in this country. His ROE (record of employment), change of healthcard, change of drivers license, etc, in the new province, will further prove he has violated his PNP conditions along with the other things you said. The jamo guy in the article thought he was smart like this ewu. Probably thought this government was foolish like his wat gwaan bombaclot jamaican government back home. See how he started to cry when he originally got an order of deportation. He thought about waking up beside those chickens as well.

NEVER mess with the government here. NEVER. Anyone who lives here knows it. I fear God then the federal government. Only 2 things in life that scares me. Lastly i know a Ghana girl who was on EI (employment insurance) while being unemployed. The conditions was you must stay in Canada the whole time looking for a job. She went to Ghana to party. When she returned to Canada her benefits was cut off. She was asked to repay back the money paid to her along with a 20k fine or so with interests. If she failed to comply the government was going to charge her with fraud and prosecute her. An arrest warrant would have occurred after her unsuccessful appeal. Shes paying back that fine till today. And she's illegible for EI ever again.

Well said. Especially the part in bold.

Regarding the part in bold above, I always tell new immigrants that a vital part of how successful you will eventually be in Canada is the people (Nigerians or other nationalities) that you associate yourself with when you newly arrive. If you associate yourself with or seek advice from the people who are stuck in non-professional job that is when you get the kind of advice that you can never get professional job here in Canada.

As you will see from a lot the comments from this thread and other threads here on Nairaland, you will agree with me that not only can you get professional job but you can also eventually attain mid level and senior level management positions in your career with reputable companies (I have spoken about this in the past). Many of us here are testimony to this.

Finally, there are bad and good people among every nationality or race, and Nigerians are no exception. You only need to choose your friends carefully irrespective of nationality or race.

After reading to and fro, all opinions and experiences, I want to ask hope it is not illegal if an immigrant dependant is collecting child benefit while staying outside Canada for a period of time, say 1year and half. Reason for dependant not staying inside Canada is genuine.

There we go again...

In 2018, most if not all white in North America will be extremely careful to say this to a black person, very afraid indeed . Usually white people in North America walk on eggshells when interacting with black people.

But for a white person to summon the courage to tell you what you have wrote, that tells me a lot about you. You must be an extreme pushover and he took advantage of that. He took you for a dumb or someone anyone can offend with no fear of repreasal.
Are you the type of black who says things to please the white master? He may have sensed that you have an extreme low self esteem toward white people.

You even told him you understood him. Com'on now!
Someone once told me that the bullies have the eyes to see who to mess with and who not to mess with.
Personally, just as the majority of black people, no white will ever tell me this poo in my face. I am so surprised that in Canada a white person can say this to a black person. Yes, we have racism in Canada but it never blatant. It is rather subtle.

And this is the rubbish you come to post on Nairaland (a mostly black forum).
Some black will go to the extend of selling their family and culture in the name of what the white man had said.

Good morning... I'm not officially a member of this thread but I can't let this go...

I'm a Muslim... and Arabians are mostly savages in my eyes... I've met a few... and I also said the same thing... "I'm so sorry... but I can't visit Dubai because of the things I've seen on the media..." they understood my position...

The UAE is far... Northern Nigeria... every Hausa man walks about with a dagger... I would also say the same thing... "I'm sorry... but hausa people are heartless..." but it's their culture...

It's not about being white and black to be racist... one can be a black racist or a white racist... and this hatred has continued to be fueled by the media...

I remembered when Sepp Blatter said racist remarks could be ended by a handshake... almost everyone went bonkers... I didn't see the fuss in it... you calling me a black monkey on a football pitch... or nigga won't affect my ability... a case study... C.Ronaldo... When he was still playing for Madrid... Estadio Bernabeu is a very big stadium... filled with half ultras and they boo him... He scores they boo... he doesn't... they still boo... by the same fans of the club you support... if Christiano was black... and he had one bad performance... he'll blame the ultras... but the nigga didn't give a Bleep... for 9 years... he did what he was always good at... play football...

Now two weeks ago... Inter Vs Napoli... 0-0... inter is at home... Coulibaly was a Black Napoli centre back... inter needed a win... and Coulibaly was targeted... yes he was racially abused by the home fans... nigga lost his head and got red carded... now he blamed the lose and the red card because he was profiled racially...

now compare... C.Ronaldo and Coulibaly...

If I was white and I called you a nigga... after beating me and punching me... even if you kill me for calling you a nigga... what did you prove...

Nobody has said it ok but for you to fight it, you need people who believe in the equal rights of people irrespective of sexuality, race, tribe e.t.c

The people on this thread are all migrating to Canada because the system discourages discrimination(at least openly). A certain poster says he would not rent an apartment to homosexuals because of his religion but that same person has most likely complained about tribalism in Nigeria and he would definitely complain if he is denied a job because of his religion.

It's ?
I do not know where you got this information from but I grew up in an area where there are many hausa people and I never saw one walking around with dagger save for some going to the farm.
Again you are quick to generalise that hausa people are heartless, how did you arrive at such conclusion?
