Shehu Shagari: What Nigeria Will Miss About Late Ex-president – Secondus by 14Ebiscoo(op): 10:03am On Jan 01, 2019
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has said Nigeria would miss the fatherly counsel of former President, Shehu Shagari, especially at this time when the country was going through difficult challenges ahead of a major election.

Secondus, who said this on Monday in a statement by his Media Adviser, Ike Abonyi, described Shagari as a compassionate, humane and father of modern democracy in Nigeria.

He said that Alhaji Shagari was the last man standing among principled leaders upon whom the democratic foundation of the nation was established.

According to the PDP National Chairman, Shagari as President in second republic ensured that his reign provided minimum pain on the people because of his human approach to governance.

He said: “The second republic President will be remembered for his principled approached to governance and his God fearing disposition as evidenced in the way and manner he piloted the affairs of the country within the rule of law, without nepotism, bias of religion, tribe or geography from 1979 to 1983.”

I thought they said this man was sacked because of corruption in his government

I av been trying so hard to see this man's mansion, his offshore account or his children living in opulence.I never seen none

Unlike this despotic tyrant in Asorock, his children and wife lavishing money, buying mansions, buying jets and engaging in money laundering excessively

haaaa bro Secondus....

Democratic corruption and election rigging / manipulation stated between 1979- 1983.

These PDP bigots can praise d devil in order to get votes.

Although Sagari was a fine gentleman,he couldn't control his government. He was weak.

Infact, cabals stated @ dat period. Democracy was played with house burning ,car burning ...in short bitterness.

Many politicians lost their fortune due to anarchy. The political landscape became critically divided into North, West and East.

Maybe bro Secondus was busy fishing on Rivers State waters then.

The way PDP are taking this Shagari's death ehn, you will think it will make them win the entire North. None of their party members said anything about this man when he was alive. They did not even care he was hospitalized but now their making his death a campaign issue. So much so for people who want to 'getting Nigeria working again'.

PDP is really latching on to Shagari's death

The way they're going, it's like they are ready to follow Shagari.

Our problems as Nigerian is that we are always quick to take our eyes off the ball and become spectators in our own play.

In the last week all we talk about is Shagari this, Shagari that. Prior to his death, when was the last time we heard of him? We give too much credence to unnecessary distractions. He is dead let him Rest In Peace. Imagine news credited to his son the other day was that his father forgave Buhari, trying to curry cheap favor in his father’s yet to rooten body.

The man was so forgotten we didn’t even know he was sick. If not for social studies back in primary school days I doubt I would know a man like him existed, let alone rule Nigeria.

We either remember our leaders while they are alive or forget them in death, we have elections at hand. Let us stay focused on that and see how we can vote in a party that will move us to the gates of eldorado. Even if we nor enter, the joy of seeing it fit full our belle.

This our custom of praising the dead when they are wrong is unacceptable. As far as I know decay in governance and corruption started full fledged with his government.

The Way they retell the propaganda that the shagari regime was corrupt beats my imagination we all know that shagari couldn't even afford treatment abroad likewise alex ekwueme who was his vice president but come to think of it those that participated in the 1983 coup, The Abachas, The Babangida's, The Abiola's, the Danjumas,The Dasukis, we all know how their dynasties became Wealthy.
