The 232-kilometre Maiduguri-Damaturu-Potiskum road which was closed earlier today, over what residents said was due to a military operation in the area, has now been re-opened.

The spokesperson of the 7 division, Col. Ado Isa confirmed this to Channels Television.

A member of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri had told our correspondent that military convoys were seen on the road, a major expressway leading to and out of the Borno state capital.

Following the action, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Maiduguri stopped loading passengers travelling out of the city.

Motorists coming into the city were also restricted from using the road, where terrorists are said to have a dozen crossing points.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, explained in a statement that the Army is only carrying out a clearance operation and snap checks for the safety of motorists, saying the action was not a road closure.

Woe betide any Maiduguri resident that dare pass on that highway anytime, anyday, anyhow with or without armed escorts.The Shehu of Borno have said it all.

Meanwhile let all the high profile APC members in the state & national government relocate first to the test the highway and stay in Borno State.BH have long been technically defeated.

Can a presidential spokesperson travel through the road first without any security, come back and tell us how safe it is!

Sometime in 2013,I planned on visiting Maiduguri from Damaturu with a friend who was going on a business trip.
Something came up and I shelved d trip while my friend went with my car.
Hehehehe.
Boko boys later blocked d road at Benishek,sacked the army personnel on a checkpoint and collected their armored personnel carrier(,the first of many times) .
My friend who was on his way back when this happened was stranded overnight and had to scramble back to Maiduguri.Didn't help too that govt suspended phone networks that period.

To all travellers on that route, please be careful. Believe military at your risk

But why do the military wait for BH to strike before they launch their own counter attack. I thought their presence there will be to launch attack on BH 24/7 until the last BH is decimated.
