Saraki Alleges Massive Fraud In The Oil Sector by 15Ebisco: 9:41am On Jan 10, 2019 |
Senate President Bukola Saraki has alleged that there is massive fraud within the oil sector. In an interview with Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye, the lawmaker said applying subsidy on assumption that Nigeria consumes fifty million litres (50million litres) of fuel a day, is fraudulent. Saraki said in the Jonathan administration subsidy was based on an assumption that the nation consumes 30million litres of fuel daily. He added that he and some other lawmakers warned that the Jonathan government was condoning corruption “by over importing fuel and because of that we were losing a lot of money”. The Senate President said the present government instead of changing the process, jerked up the importation by 20 million litres extra. He said, “you would have thought that a government that was to fight corruption and prevent leakages would even if you are going to continue subsidy, ensure that it is better managed.” Saraki said there is no way Nigerians can consume 50million litres a day, “it is just money being stolen,” he alleged. He further argued that there is almost no way that President Muhammadu Buhari is not aware of what is going on within his government, stressing that the Senate has investigated the issue but “we have an environment where agencies of government are emboldened to disregard the National Assembly, it is a big issue”. The director general of the Atiku/PDP presidential campaign said the lawmakers have called for the inclusion of subsidy in the budget but that request has lingered for two years and President Buhari has only just agreed to bring it in. He said, “This kind of decisions have led to leakages and this is the root of corruption”. ~ RichboyfrmDelta:~ Saraki, President of the law making arm. Overseer of hundreds of reps who stand in for millions of people. Please lecture sir on how the role of the no 1 law maker culminate chairing petroleum activities. Have you questioned that slowpoke who is the minister for petroleum and doubles as the sole administrator of the BMC which you serve as a mere member. There’s the Separation of Power clause upheld by the constitution which is the grundnorm. Saraki as the no 3 man in Nigeria states the obvious which is that corruption abounds in the oil sector of Nigeria. Tell me how he has offended you. Illustrate how his statement reduces your BMC allowance by the end of January. Try better next time bro. 15 Likes 2 Shares

A Senate president whose function includes to be a check on the executive should bring the facts to the house and don't forget they have powers to summon. If all that comes to his mind is just going to the press then its more or less an attempt to just smear the image of the executive, and not to bring them to justice. 2 Likes |

Fellow friends I will like to enlighten you all about what is happening in Nigeria.. Our leaders are doing their best but the problem is that the political machine running the country is dead... That's why nothing seems to be working... First problem, electricity problems, who or what is hindering 25 hours light in the country, do you know that Nigeria exports electricity to other countries... That should stop henceforth because we all need light.. We must satisfy ourselves before exporting something as precious as light.. Second problem is lack of enough industries, light is what is needed to run industries and we have no light so second problem is tied to the first problem.. When we have enough industries we can begin to employ our jobless youths Third problem is high cost of food, this is due to the insecurities faced by farmers in harvesting their crops and also due to high cost of fuel ... Nigerian government should tackle the major security problems in Nigeria once and for all and stop paying lip service to the insecurities in the country.. And the price of fuel should drop by building our refineries to work according to world best standards.. Fourth problem is the mental challenges faced by Nigerians, Nigerians have lost hope in Nigeria, I hereby declare that Nigeria needs a motivator as president because Nigerians need someone to motivate them out of their depression and 2 Likes |
