Methuselah Died In The Great Flood? by owoshuyi(m): 1:13pm On Aug 19, 2018
The oldest man to have ever lived on earth according to God's word was Methuselah who died at the age of 969 years. He was the grandfather of Noah; the man who built an ark for the flood God wanted to use to destroy all mankind because of their wickedness and sins.
In further study of the generation of this man Methuselah, I discovered the man died the year the Great Flood occurred. This discovery is the reason for the topic which asks that DID METHUSELAH DIE IN THE FLOOD? In other to prove my point, I studied and did a research in the book of Genesis 5 verse 25-32 and this was what I found out.
Methuselah was 187 years old when Lamech his son was born to him. When Lamech now was 182 years old, he had a son whose name was Noah. This means Methuselah's age will be 369 years. Lamech lived for 595 more years and died. This means he died at the age of 777 years, while Methuselah his father was now 964 years old. This shows that Lamech died before his father. At this same period, Noah was 595 years old and already had his own children (Shem, Ham and Japheth). About 5 years later when Noah was 600 years old, after he had built the ark God commanded him to build, the Great Flood that killed all mankind and animals occurred. This was about the time Methuselah, Noah's grandfather was 969 years old; the year he died. So from this revelation, one may think that Methuselah, the oldest man to have ever lived on earth died during the Great Flood. It could further have meant that, had the Flood not occurred, Methuselah might had lived more than 969 years. He died a few days before the flood

Edit: .most of the stories in the bible may have been changed overtime due to error in translation and sometimes deliberately.

I've checked this before.

Methuselah died the same year the great flood began.

we don't know if he died in the flood or before the flood.

@owoshuyi. Methuselah died before the flood began. That is the son of Enoch who was translated. "God planned to bring the flood after all the men who walked in the ways of the Lord had died (besides Noah and his family). Methuselah lived until the ark was built, but died before the flood since God had promised he would not be killed with the unrighteous."

Where did God make that promise to him?

Methuselah's death was a prophecy fulfilled on the about to happen flood
but also was a precursor to same flood

As long as Methuselah lived the flood was not sent, the flood is to be unleashed soon or any moment after he died
If remember correctly, I think, (i.e. so please dont quote me on this), it was 120 years after Methuselah's death, that the flood eventually came

Methuselah did not died in the flood. In fact the bible made us understand that the name METHUSELAH was a 'prophetic name' given to his father Enoch about the coming judgment.

The Flood of Noah did not come as a surprise. It had been preached on for four generations. But something strange happened when Enoch was 65, from which time “he walked with God.” Enoch was given a prophecy that as long as his son was alive, the judgment of the flood would be withheld; but as soon as he died, the flood would be sent forth.

Enoch named his son to reflect this prophecy. The name Methuselah comes from two roots: muth, a root that means “death”[5] ; and from shalach, which means “to bring,” or “to send forth.” Thus, the name Methuselah signifies, “his death shall bring.”[6]

And, indeed, in the year that Methuselah died, the flood came. Methuselah was 187 when he had Lamech, and lived 782 years more. Lamech had Noah when he was 182.[7] The Flood came in Noah’s 600th year.[8] 187 + 182 + 600 = 969, Methuselah’s age when he died.[9]

It is interesting that Methuselah’s life was, in effect, a symbol of God’s mercy in forestalling the coming judgment of the flood. It is therefore fitting that his lifetime is the oldest in the Bible, symbolizing the extreme extensiveness of God’s mercy.

Shalom aleikhem

Thank Yahweh that you mentioned "according to the God's Word". The sad truth is no man has ever reached 300 years mark in human history. Your Methuselah is a mythical figure like Cuie Wenze(300 years old). So tap out from your delusion..

God's word only recorded the age of those who died NATURALLY, as for all those died as a result of the flood, God didn't keep any record of them since they're like WASTE!
Adam lived longer than any body else! Remember that God's word said "in the day" Adam eat of the forbidden fruit, that will be his last day. Of course Adam lived longer than 24 hours after eating the fruit, so the statement "in the day" couldn't have meant literal 24 hours. According to 2Peter 3:8 a day before God is equivalent of 1,000 years before humans, therefore going by this logic Adam actually died that same day he eat the fruit because he NEVER lived up to 1,000 years after eating the forbidden fruit! Genesis 5:5
But nobody can say for certain how many days as in (thousands of years) Adam had lived before eating the forbidden fruit!

Please read, study Genesis 5 : 25 - 32 and do the math of Lamech, Methuselah and Noah's ages. Holla back when you find out about the 595 years age of Noah.
