First, take on the IELTS and try to get good scores.

The Cost of the TEF is worth 2 IELTS attemps and 1 EOR(more or less) and since you're new to French& you say you can only afford to do it once, the risk is too high if not unnecessary.

You're in a good place since there's a Master's degree around the corner. So again, focus first on your IELTS and then take it from there.

Note: I haven't completed my masters, though I have submitted for final defence, same with my husband.
1. If I have 8777 and he has 6, 6.5,6,7.5 in IELTS
2. With 6 yrs work experience
3. Age: Early 33
4. My CRS gives 446

We all know that as of yesterday the cut off point increased to 449.

So am suggesting I start French lesson. I need to get a desirable score in six months, by then I will be through with masters and ECA at least, that is if ASU calls of the strike early enough.

My questions are
1) since this TEF is expensive, am new in French. Do you think I can make it before then? Cos I need to write it just once.

2)What should I start with? I haven't written the IELTS though. I haven't started the preparation either.

I will advise you that IELTS should be your TOP PRIORITY for now.

You and your hubby should really try hard on IELTS.

please don't think too much about TEF for now... But still, u can start learning french if you want to.. No knowledge is lost. lol

Please when did you start learning french...judging from your result your reading and writing is okay because you are familiar with french words....reading and writing goes hand in hand....same thing with speaking and listening too..i will advise you to listen to french audios such as rfi app and also you can watch french movies....this will enhance your listening capability and also help in speaking too.

I started in April 2018. First ever french exam. Before April I only knew my primary school french.
Honestly I didn't take listening very seriously ( listening to french audio and all that. More like i didn't have time for it) but now I will actively listen.
For speaking I could have done better...I think i had exam fright plus I had no idea I wouldn't be given time to prepare. Now i have to do more verbal communication in French ( yeah I speak French mostly in my head )

Am sad I have to retake the exam but now I know I will go in much better than I did in November.

For others waiting for your result...I wish you success.

Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words. I only decided to write TEF sometime in September (didnt really know about the exam before then). Prior to then I was learning just to give me better opportunities when i get to Canada .
