Reno Omokri reacts to the tactics by the Buhari's led government to forcefully resign the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen. By bringing up petitions against him.

He said:

My attention is drawn to the imminent arrest and charges against the Chief Justuce of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by the Buhari government, 4 weeks to an election they are likely to lose and which may end up in court. This is very suspicious

The judiciary is a self governing and independent arm of government according to the 1999 Constitution. The Buhari government has no business pressuring justice Onnoghen to resign when he has not been convicted. He is innocent until proven guilty

Neither President MBuhari nor @officialEFCC called for the resignation of @GovUmarGanduje of Kano state, who was caught redhanded receiving bribes. Rather, Buhari publicly praised him in Paris after the disgraceful act of bribery. Therefore, he should

President Buhari NEVER wanted Justice Onnoghen as CJN and refused to appoint him and left him acting until he was sworn in by then acting President @ProfOsinbajo. The man cabal ruling Nigeria for PMB NEVER wanted Justice Onnoghen in the first place

Buhari is known for manipulating the law against the heads of independent arms of government he considers unfriendly to him. A good example is his malicious prosecution and persecution of Senate President, @bukolasaraki which failed in court

Its obvious the Lifeless beast doesn't care if the whole country burns, as long as he rigs himself back to power.

Even Abacha wasn't this desperate. Buhari is evil and must be rejected at the polls.

After Buhari will be claiming to fight corruption with facts and figures while him and his people are already planning to rig the election.

The Buhari-led APC regime have suddenly remembered that the CJN needs to be taken out in order to complete the northernization of the government as it have smelt imminent electoral defeat.

Cabinet reshuffling cum Service chiefs/IGP that need rejigging are not of priority but issues like Amina Zakari staying put & removal of the CJN are of rather of more utter importance.

The president refused to sign the amended electoral act even stupidly asking that the NASS amend it to read that the new document "will take effect from the 2023 elections" just as the not-to-young-to-rule bill.

Meanwhile this is also a similar document former president Jonathan signed 48hours to the fraudulent 2015 election that ushered in this same catastrophic govt.

This is happening in a democratic journey that is a continual process? This govt is not willing for a credible election.

Is the CJN running foreign accounts with dollars, pounds and euros? Did the CJN declare his assets as required by law? Answer legal and constitutional questions and stop beating about the bush. We don't want a CJN that is richer than Dangote through bribes and kick-backs. The CCT once tried Tinubu and Saraki and they were set free. So why is the CJN different?

Buhari does not want to sign an electoral bill that will guaranty free and fair elections months to election but he wants to cunningly change the Chief Justice of Nigerians weeks to election. He has failed

Dennis Aghanya, the author of the petition against CJN Onnoghen was Buhari's former Media Aide & former National Publicity secretary of CPC.

He is the Executive Secretary of the group that wrote the petition against the CJN.

Buhari and his 63 Thieves will destroy Nigeria with this move.

So you mean it is evil for a CJN to be accountable before the law, despite the valid allegations made?

But it is not evil for the same CJN to pass judgement in the many cases he adjudicated over the span of his career?

The cases of Tinubu and Saraki were even cited, yet you claim evil will befall a citizen because he chose to be objective rather than partisan?

This is obvious. Same Onnoghen that President Buhari didn't want to appoint till Acting President Osinbajo swore him in by twist of fate during his "4-year tenure, 3 years holiday (in London)", apologies Falz.

BREAKING

By virtue of sections 318, 158(1) and Paragraph 21 (B) of the 3rd Schedule to the 1999 Constitution, the CCT, lacks the requisite jurisdiction to try the CJN.

This is because the allegations against the CJN were never referred to the National Judicial Council, NJC, before the criminal charge was entered against him.

Legal precedent:
