Buhari Has No Powers To Sack The CJN by PaChukwudi44(m): 6:03pm On Jan 12, 2019 |
The president has no constitutional powers to either sack or replace the CJN.Only the national judicial council headed by the CJN himself has such powers.By filing these spurious charges against the CJN the president is only trying to force him to step aside on moral grounds while his CCT trial subsists. However until he is convicted by either the CCT or the NJC,there is no constitutional provision that the CJN must step aside.Like the senate president Saraki he can still remain in power and fight the corruption charges. I join well meaning Nigerians in prevailing upon the CJN Onnogen not to succumb to blackmail of election riggers by resigning or stepping aside but sit tight in office 14 Likes 4 Shares |

The hypocrisy of some of you wailers stinks. Jonathan removed the then president of the court of appeal and you all supported him. Why are you now crying over Onnoghen? If Onnoghen has nothing to hide, he should simply recuse himself from presiding over the activities of the Supreme Court till CCT decide his case. Every justices that had been accused of corruption in the past all stepped aside till their cases were disposed. Onnoghen cannot be an exception. 9 Likes 1 Share |

PaChukwudi44: So disappointed in you for this infantile post. Please grow up. Case stems from a petition by a CSO to CCB to investigate the CJN. It has no bearing with the presidency. https://www.nairaland.com/4956387/ardi-petitioned-ccb-onnoghen-not 6 Likes 1 Share |

Chukwudi who told you he is sacking him. It is an issue of morality if he can stand in the dock and still be the supreme court chief judge. The best is for him to step aside on his own accord pending the determination of the case like the other judges when they were on trial. 6 Likes 1 Share |

PaChukwudi44: Ayo Salami was initially suspended by NJC at the prompting of Jonathan. NJC later cancelled the suspension and recalled him but Jonathan refused to reinstate him back to office. You don’t have to lie to make your point. 9 Likes 1 Share |

PaChukwudi44: Mention one Judge or Justice anywhere in the world that is standing trials, and still adjudicate in court? Justice Salami, the former Appeal Court President was suspended even by Jonathan.. SARAKI's case, and CJN's are world apart.. Chukwurdi na night school you go? 6 Likes 1 Share |

CilicMarin: In Nigeria, it is abnormal and against convention to put any Justice on trial without first reporting him to NBA for investigation. No. Judge will convict any Justice in Nigeria if the NBA never recommend such a one to the Executive for prosecution hence any court case against any Justice by the Executive in Nigeria is dead on arrival. |

baralatie: We are only asking him to step aside pending the determination of his case by CCT. Someone undergoing criminal trial cannot preside over the Supreme Court. What if the case gets to the Supreme Court, do you want him to be the judge in his own case? 7 Likes 2 Shares |

PaChukwudi44: He will step down. You have to think. It is blackmail yes but a very very effective one. You have to pray for the Chief Judge. Corruption weakens people that's the bitter lesson and Buhari is now a patient chess master. If you are corrupt , you are defenceless. 5 Likes 1 Share |

MadamExcellency: That is why he is being tried under CCB act! Non declaration of asset. The question is, is he under immunity from criminal prosection? Can you quote any section of the Constitution, that says an individual must be reported to an association before arraignment for criminal offence? Is NBA a Law Court or the Police? Are they a creation of the Constitution? 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: Buhari Has No Powers To Sack The CJN by MadamExcellency: 6:40pm On Jan 12, 2019 |
CilicMarin: The Executive and Judiciary are equal arm of the government. Any institution that is a court can't try him before NJC says so. CCB is not even a court, their work is reconciliation of declaration and referral to CCT should the individual fails to update the declarations accordingly. 1 Like |
