Godisincontrol:I dont think only IQAS will evaluate LLB and other professional degrees the right way. All the evaluating bodies will so the same thing IQAS does. All they need to do is indicate in their reports that the degree being evaluated (whether law, dentistry, vet medicine, optometry, etc) is a professional degree. |

johnnybravo1990:They don't do so, so IQAS wins the race. But doctors and pharmacy people have their specified bodies. WES and ICES don't. Update us. |

ontarioissauga:Of all the professional degrees, only pharmacy and medicine have their respective bodies to evaluate them. Other professional degrees like dentistry, law, optometry can use any of the 5 institutions(I strongly believe). I have seen dentists use WES and they got what they wanted. They are in Canara now. All they (WES and the others) need to do when evaluating professional degrees is to state in the report that it is a first professional degree in dentistry, law, etc. Even if they also say it is equivalent to Canada's 4-years bachelors degree like someone earlier said, the previous statement (first professional degree in ...) if stated in the report gives the applicant the maximum points similar to masters'. There is no where that states that only IQAS can evaluate correctly professional degrees like law, dentistry, etc. |

johnnybravo1990:Until WES and other bodies start saying First Professional degree, then and only then can it be safe to use them for Law degrees. There are cases where points have dropped because people used what ought to be on the evaluation and not what was on the report. Like I said earlier the choice is solely the person's

johnnybravo1990:Bros, anyone that has first professional degree is cool. WES doesn't have those words on their ECA summary or anywhere for lawyers. If they do so for dentists, good news. Still bring in, the evidence. If you want to ignore and see it as masters points, no problem still. Do your thingy. |

ontarioissauga:Please click the link below. It is an earlier thread as far back as 2016 where an LLB graduate used WES. According to him WES called his Law degree(LLB) equivalent to 4 years Canadian Bachelors, but in their remark below, they said it is the first professional degree in Law. https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/92 CREDENTIAL ANALYSIS 1. Credential Authentication: Transcripts were verified by the institution Country: Nigeria Credential: Bachelor of Laws Year: 2010 Awarded by: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Institution Status: Recognized Major/Specialization: Law Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's degree (four years) Remarks: The Bachelor of Laws is the first professional degree in law in Nigeria and represents the completion of three years of professional study in a Common Law Jurisdiction. I evaluated my llb degree and bl(law school) with Wes and it was evaluated as equivalent to a four years degree and a one year post graduate diploma.I have sent mails to them trying to inform them of the IRCC guidelines that states that law is a professional degree.Wes replied stating that the have done their duty which is to evaluate my degrees.I entered the pool with their assessment and my score is 442, my score would have been 449 if I had evaluated with IQAS and I would have clinched an ITA at the last draw.So to avoid stories and regrets kindly evaluate your law degree with IQAS. johnnybravo1990: |

Ogenedo:You don't need to go to the bank to pay. Just make sure you have sufficient funds in your Naira MasterCard. Then make the payment online. They'll debit you the naira equivalent and remit the dollar value to whoever you are paying to. I made the ICES payment online. |

Please for those who used ICES for credential evaluation. ICES requires that a scan copy of transcript should be uploaded aside certificate. Is this compulsory or the transcript the school would be sending to them should suffice. Asking because there is no student copy of transcript at the moment to upload. Thanks |
