The Lagos gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje has said that the state’s local governments need to get working again.

Jimi Agbaje made this statement while responding to a question at The Platform’s Lagos Governorship Debate.

Agbaje in a reaction to questions about gridlocks in Lagos said that the key is to “get the local governments working again” adding that the grassroots play a great roll in making state function optimally.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate said that planning ahead is crucial if Lagos must overcome its problem with traffic jam.

He was flowing as if he sleeps, eats and wakes with the ideas of doing the right thing.
I was watching and listening, and it dawned on me he will not win. Nigerians are not ready to get it right yet.
With regards people still campaigning for Buhari, it only shows that the power of stupid and foolish people in a crowd should never be underestimated.

Yes... It's funny how Sanwolu was speaking about restructuring and devolution of powers at the federal level when state governments have refused to grant local government autonomy.


We can't continue this system of government that centralises the affairs of a state to an office. Devolution of powers at all level is what we need. So if a bad Road exist in your ward you mobilise and march straight to the local government Chairman's office.

Yes. But you and I should also do our own part by voting against them even when the foolish ones are in greater numbers.

Do you know that if many of the roads within streets leading to major roads are tarred , it will ease pressure at various junctions. And these roads are supposed to be done by the local government.

He's correct about local government autonomy. The issue is state assemblies refuse to vote o issue. I really dont want to hear the governor excuse either since the governors couldn't stop state assembly autonomy in 2018. It makes sense for local government to serve some utility since the get tax revenue.
