Unfortunately for you, the elephant in the room isn't Atiku's corrupt past but the incumbent perceived incompetence.

Economic growth rate under his watch has been barely 1% yearly which isn't enough to create enough jobs for entering the labour force yearly.. The country needs to grow by 7% to achieve that.

From 1999 to 2013, the economy grew by 6.7% yearly despite high levels of corruption. Atiku said he appointed 7 PHD holders, that he preferred ploying people smarter than him.

Buhari's introduction of senseless econimic policies upon assumption of office was his Achilles heel. Even Lamido Sanusi was strident in condemning these policies and even advised his ministers to speak truth to power.

Buhari's has no one but himself to blames. People aren't ready for another 4 years of lamentable growth (Even the Abacha years were better). The man doesn't listen to anyone just as Amaechi said.

PMB blew his massive Goodwill away

Wasn't this just merely due to the relatively high oil prices of that period ?

In a sane country, should this even be a campaign statement?
Is enriching a categorized set of people meant to be a focus of someone expected to lead over 200 million people?
Are people becoming more gullible over the years?
Is it that these are the only sets of people that can lead us in this country? Imagine an administration tackling corruption with shield on some set of loyalists whereas another one, if given the opportunity, is intending to bring the corruption back in full flesh. Yet most people still have the effrontery to chose to support either publicly!
Why can't we repeat what was done in year 2015 in a different dimension by voting in a young fellow with vision who is entirely different from the past leaders rulers?
Sincerely, this country has got brains capable of developing this country beyond what seems attainable but until we see reasons within ourselves to fight for what we truly want...

Atiku has made his plan open. He'll make his friends rich on the detriment of the rest Nigerians who're not his friends.

So,what else do we want to know.He has already pensiled down the names of his would be partners of looters to clear the national treasure.

this quote was heavily taken out of context in this write-up, and the reporter should be ashamed of himself.

I saw the post on Twitter yesterday morning, and the comment was addressing claims from APC that he was going to enrich his friends, he then responded "At least they say I will enrich my friends and not my family members..... "

But as is common with Nigerians, they swallow anything they see on Nairaland and fail to check other sources. I suppose we believe what we want to and ignore what we don't want to believe

The truth is this wasn't a write up written out of context... I watched it live on channels when he said it, I was shocked... I will rather not vote than vote for any of APC and PDP

Now the fact that many poor suffering nigerians who are in the overwhelming majority will find no flaw in this unguarded outburst, instigated by desperation, but covertly reveals Atiku's main purpose for his presidential bid clearly shows the extent of both mental and leadership decay in nigeria. ...What am i even saying, i mean the man got accepted despite his criminal case in the US. I dont think any serious politician in nigeria would have boldly made this kind of statement in 1999 without some form of consequence. Now that is the level the present government has brought nigeria to. Gadamit!!! Such a bold display of malfeasance. Truly Nigeria has gone to the dogs. Criminals and murderers have a firm grip on the country. The people are still sleeping.

The kind of atikulooting that will happen in nigeria should this man win will never have been witnessed in the history of mankind.

Meaning u couldn't comprehend his syntax..
So your not a friend to Atiku?

No.

The oil price in 1999 was $20 when OBJ assumed office.

Even at his departure in 2007, the max it achieved was $65 or so. Despite that, he left foeeign reserves at $60b and excess crude oil accounts at $20b. It was Jonathan's profligacy that was a problem

In Year 2,000, the oil price shot up to $35 but later collapsed to $20. Despite the fall, there was no scarcity of forex or a recession because the economy was in more capable hands (technocrats) and also those at the top were ready to listen to them. We were still even receiving Western Union in dollars!

Buhari's mismanaged the fall in the oil price. There are seasoned economists available who were ready to help him out bit decided to depend on head knowledge.

If you were asked an economic question in WAEC, would you use head knowledge to answer it? You know you'll fail

How much more when handling an economy, especially an economy facing a downturn.

my problem with nigerians is thry don't tell themselves the truth.we need to ask,who are his friends.we know a rich man makes friend with the rich and that is why the rich keep getting richer and the poor poorer.the gap between the rich and the poor get wider and

Oga with all these your grammar, if you can buy it when it if ready for sale, go ahead and pursue the course. When he spoke of his friends he never mentioned personal friends, he meant the business community, and if you are one of them, please forward your proposals when the time is ripe.
Did you watch the conference, did you know the question he was responding to when he made that statement, if not that the poster of this report has some hidden intentions, why didn't he or she publish the whole interview or give links to it.?

The same english i typed is what you typed. Its not my fault i write it better, perhaps you should read more.
I do not need to watch the conference to know the character of my former vice president. Even people that have worked with him and have closely interacted with him know he is not a person of integrity and has corruption in his DNA. And that is exactly the kind of character the rich powerful nigerian politicians that have long since been bleeding the country want. those group of men that buhari has blocked their access to the country's wealth want Atiku. Buhari has shut them out and is draining the country's wealth with his close associates. If they get their hands on nigeria's treasury again, they are gonna loot it with a vengeance and a flagrant display of criminality. It will be phenomenal.

What is friend?

I can't be enemy of my president.
Buhari is not our friend that's why things are like this.

A friend is someone who cry when u cry, lough when u do, not a sycophant. A friend sees things like you when no other do, he understands your situation when no one else do.
A good friend is more than a bad sibling. Atiku is a friend of Nigeria.

I'm supposed to be apolitical but the squalid state of the economy just drives me mad.

Atiku is a worrisome choice no doubt, for kleptocracy can be a huge problem.

I suspect if corruption becomes endemic coupled with positive policies, an enriched and empowered populace will seek his head and may bring his downfall. He had better be very very careful
