Tanks for the explanation @Mamaroon, may your next exam be favourable to you.

Also, is anyone here considering the TCF Exam? Alliance Francaise Lagos is not taking it yet, but when I called, the lady said if they have enough people making the request they can decide to start taking it.

Please, if you are interested, let's know ourselves and plan a way forward.

My main reason is the fact that you can pick up your results within 15 days as against TEF which is 2 months

That's much better but I don't plan writing till June.
Just started French lessons this month

What is the TCF exams like ?

The TCF Canada consists of four mandatory parts. It evaluates general French language proficiency in listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking and writing.

There are 39 multiple choice questions for listening comprehension; 39 multiple choice questions for the reading comprehension with only one correct answer possible; 3 speaking tasks, organized according to a progressively increasing level of difficulty; and 3 writing tasks, also with a progressively increasing level of difficulty. The levels correspond to the benchmarks specified by the European Framework for Language Learning, Teaching and Evaluation as well as the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB

If you are interested in writing TCF go to AF Portharcourt. Even if its just one candidate, they'll register you and you will take the exam. Its N110,000. I already posted their exam schedule somewhere on this thread.

Thank you @mariah203 for the suggestion. Hoever, it is not an easy call for me to go to PH for the exam. Also, considering the fact that I would love to attend the revision classes for any of the exam I register for.

Hi everyone, since I mentioned my desire to stick around here, I have been thinking on what we (my team and i) can do to be of impact to this group. We decided that we should have a platform where we can solve TEF/TCF questions. We send samples of TEF/TCF questions to you, you send your responses to our email we then grade it and give you further pointers to best improve your scores. Before I drop the EMAIL and details for interested *TEFERS* to register, kindly let me know what you feel. Also do i have TEF candidates for January Exam in the house let's have a chat.

NJ, Bellerin, Mariah, Etrange, everyone....

I've been re-reading the posts but pls permit me to ask. .....any other tips for listening?.... I know listening to radio, watch movies etc. ...but any particular TEF strategy? I often get lost reading the questions and trying to listen to audio at the same time. Should we just be concentrating on the audio and face the questions in the few seconds that we have after?

Also on writing. ...I'm convinced there is a style and content that examiners are looking for that AF is able to pass across to their students.... unless you are a wiz kid like NJ wink it may help to attend AF classes ..I say this because I notice on the results list that even people who got A1 A2 B1 in other areas cleared EE.....so pls make time to attend if possible ....Bellerin and someone else mentioned the use of subjontif as well....I'm not selling market for AF but I noticed this and thought to mention it.

Meanwhile. ..I think I may port from Team Feb and calm down and join March peeps jejely.

Looking back, I'd recommend scanning through the questions while the example audio is being read out...at the beginning, observe the images closely and pre-empt what the possible dialogue might be and then listen with an open mind. I'd recommend listening exclusively to the audio before writing the answers. Always take advantage of the example dialogs to read ahead.

You're right about perhaps leveraging AF for Writing. They seem to have it covered. One thing though which will help is: for part 1, frequently read fait divers on Google. For example, after my exam, I googled fait divers fourgon pluie and voila I saw my exam question staring back at me! So frequently Google fait divers and add high frequency key words like perdu, vole, etrange, disparu and you'll see popular type 1 questions. Use a lot of the plus que perfect tense, I heard they're scored higher. For type 2, master the response type, I mean know when a letter is expected or when an essay is expected and master the fixed response styles.

Cheers to your eventual success!

'Prof' Bellerin and mariah have given great tips. I dey hail una o.
For listening, reading the questions while the instruction is playing is ideal, then you'll already know what to listen for when the recording starts. The Propulse Training channel on YouTube also has some tips that may be helpful for listening even if it's just for more practice questions. Here are some examples:

Hello all,
I am about to start my EE journey and using the CRS calculator, even if I score very high marks in my IELTS, my CRS score stands at 416 which is quite low based on CRS scores I have seen so I am left with no options but to boost my CRS score. I can't take any masters program because it's time wasting putting ASUU strike and all other internal strikes within the university so another option is taking the French exam. I am a beginner because tthe last time I learnt French was in JSS 3. My question is can I register to learn French now and still have a high score that would boost my profile? And if yes I only know of alliance francaise, do they take weekend classes in their Lagos centres? (Because that's the only spare time I have) and how long should I learn before attempting the exam? Thanks in anticipation.

Yes you can. Yes, they do. As long as is required to feel relatively exam ready. (6 - 12months)
