Moneywomen17:I made a big mistake when I used the title of aleko for the etsu, thanks for the correction. but if you know your history well, some dahomies lived in parts of Lagos and were under Edo's control at a time,so I don't see were I lied there. you are the one throne missiles of lies by saying that the ijaws were never subjected, stop blowing coals here. almost every tribe living close to Edo were all under there rule. the throne created by oramiyann was never the beginning of the Edo empire so I don't know what you are talking about. 1 Like 1 Share |

Chidorx60:Bro, oranmiyan, odudwa, ogiso are all stories, fables. There is no record of them. When Yoruba want to rewrite history, they start by using these fables. History begins with documents written in the period which they describe. Precolonial maps and texts talking about what is happening before the eyes of whomever is making them is history. These Yoruba fools, just enter a logical discussion with them and watch how they melt and keep saying unsubstantiated things and asking irrelevant questions while repeating their disproven claims. 1 Like |

WORDWORLD:because like his Yoruba brothers, nothing they say relies on facts or history, it all relies on ethnocentric feelings. These guys don't even know what the word history means. All they want to say is just: "we superior pass you". And they intend to archieved their goals by ignoring logics and by intensively trolling and telling as much self serving lies as they can. |

prolog2: # bolded is the reason the world of humans never ceases to bleed at our feet. The American think himself most SUPERIOR. The Caucasian thinks himself most SUPERIOR. The Jew thinks himself most SUPERIOR. Amidst the Negros some tribes think themselves most SUPERIOR. I can go on and on............a race for SUPPERIORITY which leads to nothing but OPPRESSION of others and so pathetically true is how the oppressed eventually fight for a so called FREEDOM. So called because it is never a fight for freedom but POWER. POWER TO AS WELL OPPRESS OTHERS. I was given a training of the Mind by my father to never ever take pride in tribe except to embrace humanity and to practice COMPASSION. TO BE TRUELY HUMAN AND HUMANE IS A CHALLENGE TO US ALL. |

I am not a supremacist in any way, but I just hate when some people try to rewrite history. Africa of today is a big mess, Africa is fvcked up. Our only heritage from our ancestors is our history, yet some ignorant people with low self esteem are trying to usurp and destroy African history just because they think their own history makes them inferior to others. Indeed it is not lost on anyone that a huge chunk of Yoruba actually descend from slaves who were freed in the Americas and deposed in the southwest of what we now call Nigeria. But guess what, the Jews were also slaves in the passed, yet they embrace their history and thrive. So people accept your history as your heritage, stop trying to rewrite it. And thrive ! You hear me, Yoruba ? WORDWORLD: |

PAGAN9JA: You see how sick you are. Every other race ( even those that colonised and enslaved you ) are Angels except Africans. If people treat you like an outcast, it's not their fault. Colonisation, religion and Westernisation made them to be like that. It's your duty too to make them understand. Stop your evil heart because that's the same thing that makes people who don't practice what you practice see you and the culture and religion and traditions you practice look evil and backwards. Remember it's not yours individually. You will die and leave everything here. |

Gabriel004:As I have said severally, the maps, (they are more than 5) are available right here on nairaland. To get them, one only needs to type "Gallica" on nairaland research. I will not post the maps at your command. I have indicated where they are, all you need to do is go and get them rather than needlessly asking me to post them. I posted them more than 30 times already, at some point in my life I have to stop or else I would be posting these maps all my life. I seriously hope you have enough braincells to understand this, but I think you don't |

prolog2: My point still came out open for all to see with the # bolded. And how did you come about "Yoruba's were slaves who were freed in the Americas". Slaves to who and freed by who and when?! Can you elucidate. A question to you just like I just finished asking someone how Judaism, Islam, Christianity have their roots in Yoruba cults of which you quickly answered that it all about superiority complex. WHAT ARE YOUR EVIDENCE TO YOUR OWN CLAIM. |

Re: Osoosi Day: Ooni Of Ife Steps Out Barefooted From The Palace 2 Itapa Temple(pics by Nobody: 3:38pm On Jan 19, 2019 |
prolog2: I have done so, and on Wikipedia your reference starts as thus: "Starting from the 1830s, many emancipated Africans who had been through forced labour and discrimination in Brazil began moving back to Lagos bringing along with them some cultural and social sensibilities adapted from their sojourn in Latin America. These emancipated Africans were often called 'Aguda' or 'Maro' and also included returnees from Cuba." And so why were they returning to Africa if ACTUALLY they belong to the Americas as their own origin and not slaves being returned to their of origin. IS IT A NON-ACTUAL HISTORY THE FACT THAT EUROPEANS TRAVEL FAR AWAY FROM THEIR SHORES TO PRACTICE SUCH A DEHUMANIZATION CALLED SLAVE TRADE IN AFRICA?! And from this evidence of yours, Lagos must be centre of the Yoruba people and and before 1830 there was no such tribe as YORUBA in that Geographical location. WHO WERE THOSE PEOPLE CALLING THESE EMANCIPATED SLAVES AGUDA?! WHAT PEOPLE WERE THEY?! And since there was no such geographical location existing as Lagos as to that date mentioned what was that place called and the people living there. |

I didn't read your reply further when I saw you were quoting Wikipedia. What is it with your generation and Wikipedia ? Wikipedia is open source, anybody can write on it and anybody does. I witnessed the very first pages of Wikipedia and I believe I helped write some as well. Stop quoting Wikipedia and learn how to conduct actual research, look for actual historical documents or at least documents which lead you to historical documents and which quote those same documents. And what happened to typing: "Nigeria Brazilian passed" on Google ? WORDWORLD: |

prolog2: you mean you also contributed to the same Wikipedia you are telling us lacks authenticity?! Any way HISTORY means his own story, HIS-STORY. Thank you for your time. Perhaps Wikipedia ought to be banned for being a hood of misinformation. Then I still find the following on Wikipedia to be so true. "The first recorded repatriation of African people from Brazil to what is now Nigeria was a government-lead deportation in 1835 in the aftermath of a Yoruba and Hausa led rebellion in the city of Salvador known as the MalĂȘ Revolt.[2] After the rebellion, the Brazilian government fearful of further insurrection allowed freed or manumitted Africans the option to return home or keep paying an exorbitant tax to the government.[3] A few Africans who were free and had saved some money were able to return to Africa as a result of the tough conditions, taxation, racism and homesickness. In 1851, 60 Mina Africans to put together $4,000 to charter a vehicle for Badagry.[3] After slavery was abolished in Cuba and Brazil in 1886 and 1888 respectively, further migration to Lagos continued. Many of the returnees chose to return to Nigeria for cultural, missionary and economic reasons. Many of them descended from the Yoruba. In Lagos, they were given the watery terrains of Popo Aguda as their settlement. By the 1880s, they comprised about 9% of the population of Lagos. Towards the end of 1920, the migration stopped. Though, coastal Lagos was the preferred destination, most of the returnees were descendants of groups such as Ijeshas, Oyos, Ijebu and Egba based in the interior. The Agudas were aware of their home cities but preferred to set up shop in Lagos because it was conducive for trade, they were warmly received in Badagry and also because of on-going wars in the interior. A ship with Agudas docking in Badagry can be welcomed by crowds of children hailing them as they disembark from the ship.[4] In some cases, the Oba gave them land to build a house and provided men to assist them in their transition to local life. |

Chidorx60: yoruba refer to any king as Oba becauce the word Oba means king. literally 'he who dominates' Oba has no meaning in Benin, as i have read the title od the Oba of Benin is actually 'Omo n'Oba' meaning Child of the Oba, and the Oba here is Oranmiyan, a Yoruba man, because it was Oranmiyan who brought the Oba title to Benin |
