In the recently concluded Presidential Debate, 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has given his reason for not participating in the Presidential Debate.

The Presidential Debate 2019 was organized by Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) on Saturday 19th January 2019.

President Buhari was supposed to participate in the Presidential Debate alongside Atiku Abubakar(PDP), Oby Ezekwesili (ACPN), Fela Durutoye (ANN), Kingsley Moghalu (YPP).

We will recall that Atiku Abubakar pulled out of the Presidential Debate because President Buhari who was supposed to attend failed to show up. He, however, requested that since Buhari was not in attendance, that he will not participate in the debate and urged Buhari to choose a date to debate with him and hopefully other Presidential candidates will be present.

However, in the Presidential Debate 2015, President Buhari also refused to show up son Nigerians weren’t really expecting him to show up this time.

In the last minutes move by APC to save their about to be damaged imaged by PDP, released a report claiming that Buhari did not attend because of his schedule and carefully refused to pick a date as Atiku requested since the schedule was the problem. Atiku Abubakar who traveled to United State recently was said to have cut short his trip in other to participate in the Presidential Debate.

In a sane world both Buhari and Atiku will loose the election due to this embarrassment to Nigerians, but in a country like our, even the electorate will tell you they have reasons for not coming for the debate.. smh
