The commission was not under pressure to do what was wrong, the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu said. Recall that Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had on Sunday written a letter, telling the nation that there was doubt as to the integrity of the commission to conduct a free, fair and credible elections, Naija Politico reports. This clarification was made by the Chairman in a meeting in Abuja, on Monday, with the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and other senior police officers. Yakubu went further to say “this is to be expected in an election year when people make all sorts of insinuations. “I want to tell you that we as a commission have never been under any pressure to do what is wrong. “We will never compromise our integrity to do what the law says that we shouldn’t and for the 2019 general elections, I want to assure and reassure Nigerians that votes and nothing but votes will count. “WIth this level of cooperation from the security agencies, I want to assure you that Nigerians will have a pleasant voting experience in 2019.” The nation was looking forward to INEC and the Nigeria Police Force to conduct credible elections, he said. An unimpeded access will be granted by the commission to the media during the elections, Yakubu said. A close working relationship between the commission and the police at all levels was required he said. “The more we collaborate with the police, the easier the prosecution of election offenders. “We are going to consult the security agencies for the deployment of personnel for the elections. “We must work in partnership to give Nigerians a pleasant election in the upcoming elections, our responsibility is to serve the Nigerian people,” Yakubu said. He requested that officers of the force be on ground early enough to escort officials of the commission to polling units. The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID), has been directed to set up a special lectionaries investigation teams, the Acting IGP said earlier. The teams would take into custody and undertake detailed investigation of all arrested electoral offenders across the country and shall liase with INEC towards the prompt processing of the case files of the offenders for prosecution, Adamu said. The police would respect and protect the rights of all citizens of the country regardless of their socio-economic status, Adamu further reiterated. The Presidential and National Assembly elections comes up on Feb. 16, while the governorship and state Houses of Assembly will hold on March 2, Naija Politico reports. Obasanjo is a frustrated nonentity, a dying horse having his last kicks. This is the first time in his political life he is swimming against the tide and he will surely be swept away by feBuhari 16th. He knows it and it's the reason he is very frustrated, the level has never gotten to this in his life. He floated ADC, the party failed to get any national traction. He created CUPP, the coalition broke down before taking off. He said it was a 3rd Force, no force about that one. Now he's supporting the kleptomaniac he called the devil for more than 10 years and the old fool expected sensible Nigerians to support him? If Obasanjo wins his polling booth for PDP/Atiku, I will deactivate my account! The End of Obasanjo’s Catalogue below:

Obasanjo in his usual style of criticizing succeeding presidents need to retire from active politics and be a true elder state man...Writing of jargon just to heat up the polity is malicious, asinine, and infantile of a past president and head of state.... God bless Nigeria! |

OBJ i think you've said enough already, as a matter of fact, you've said too much. Has there ever really been a free, fair and credible election in this country? You of all people shouldn't be pointing fingers unless of course you already smell defeat for your partner in crime. If Nigeria was your daughter, I'm sure you wouldn't recommend or approve of either of the candidates for her as a suitor because you know they both don't deserve her. |

PassingShot:We youth are just toothless bulldogs! We can write long epistles like this, even research into things that happened while we were still in the balls....that's all we know how to do best. We are not ready for a Nigeria of our dream. We simply do not have a dream. That's why someone like Buhari can foist himself on us 30years after his first coming cos we youth are indeed LAZY!!! |

Inec should ignore Obasanjo, he's only disgruntled and intimidated by the huge acceptance Buhari have been receiving in his campaign, he never expected and he's realizing that his political relevance is expired. 1. Obasanjo accusing Buhari of dictatorship but Obasanjo during his reign master minded the removal of three senate president, he master minded the illegal impeachment of Fayose as Ekiti state governor, the police IG under his regim was removed in a controversial manner and was given a public disgrace talking of impunity 2. He's accusing Buhari of pressurizing the inec to rig the election while the record showed that his government never respected the rules of election nor vote counts but allocated results 3. He's accusing Buhari of killing, his government wiped away ogoni people in one singular operation, he has given explanation to the role he played in Bola Ige death and several other killing. Obasanjo is a shameless old man that rape the wife of his own biological son. |
