One thing I've come to realise is, Understanding is the difference between a believer and an unbeliever.
I've told you some of the deep things that turn people's lives around. Yet, what I'm saying is different from what you're hearing.
Because Understanding only comes from the Holy Spirit.
Its called a language veil.
There are verses that explain this but if I post them, you will not see the sense in them, but take offense in them.

I didn't want to mention it before but the truth is I was as cynical as you not so long ago.
Church wasn't working for me again and I turned by back on God. I became an atheist.
The only reason I contributed on this post is because I can relate as all the questions posed were the things I went through. I used to be very scared of expressing my atheism because I didn't want to lose my job.
But eventually I couldn't hide it anymore and I became quite vocal about it.
The Christians clearly saw me as the damned.
A lot of my colleagues hurled insults at me. Some also tried to evangelise to convert me.
But I was so far gone, I even shook their own faith and nearly converted them instead.

But when I turned 30 years old, I felt so miserable. I felt so cursed, even though I didn't believe in curses. I just knew I was far from where I thought I'd be . in fact I didn't let anyone celebrate my birthday.

I believe that made me become desperate for a solution.
Luckily the desperation didn't take me to the wrong places. It made me curious about the efficacy of Jesus Christ.
I eventually sought Wisdom and it pointed me to Christ and led me to a church. And that's how my journey began.
In one year, I became a testimony in the church, in my family and office. The rest they say is history.

You could conclude that my desperation made me become gullible. But truly, my humbled desperation made me qualify for salvation.
It is what Christ explained in the Beatitudes.

Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.

I've said so much already.
I have no ulterior motive by trying to explain these things to you.
Only want to liberate your mind.
The deception is to think everyone else is foolish to worship God and only few of you are the wise atheists to know that God does not exist. Truly, the reverse is the case. I luckily didn't learn this the hardest way. Some people do.

All the best to you bro.
Church didn't work for you, so you turned your back against God. You didn't become an atheist brother, you were just an hater of god because atheists don't even believe it exists not to talk of hating it
When you turned 30, you felt so miserable and cursed. This happened to you personally, it doesn't happen to Atheists, because those who converted from theism to atheism have more peace of mind than when they were theists.

In a nutshell, because you had problems, you believed your atheism caused it, so when you became a Christian all things turned around for good. To be honest with you, if you never thought about god or jesus and work towards achieving your goal, you are going to achieve it without them. Things didn't turn around for your good because you became a Christian but it's because you believe that's where your liberation lies and when you joined them you started thinking positively and worked well towards achieving your goal.

I'm sure the quoted is in a negative way
That's the only thing their god is capable of doing, doing evil.
If any slight natural bad thing happen to you, they'll attribute it to their god at work LMAO!
Anytime they want to show you their spiritual things, they only want to show you evil like death and some others, they can't even think of doing something good to you like getting a good job and some other good things.

Bunch of evil doers.

I understand you very well. Trust me, with PMA I was doing OK for myself physically. It waa my soul that was just miserable.
And yesz it started with my disappointment with God, which turned to anger with God and eventually complete denial and disbelief in His existence.
I wish you would read my earlier posts here especially 2016-17.

Any way, the ultimate truth is to Live and let live.
If atheism works for you in everything, by all means continue.
If you know it doesn't, I only present what eventually worked and is working for me.

Have a blessed year HardGuyHardGuy

Your soul was miserable, that has nothing to do with you being an atheist, it's your personal issue.

Whatever rows your boat bro

Besides, I don't need blessings, save it for your theist friends.
Thank you

I think the fear of the law of your country should be the basis of your living, not the fear of an imaginary god.
Besides, religious people happen to be the most dangerous set of people. Many of them are the ritual killers, they steal pants, pastors doing all sort of ritual killings to get more members and all sort of bad things to gain wealth spiritually. Atheists don't do these because we don't believe in them.
You are accusing people of changing their attitude towards you as a result of your religious inclination or non inclination undecided but you are calling another person's basis of faith imaginary? Isn't that contradictory to the peace you preach? You don't believe in God,no problem, you are replying someone by calling his God imaginary, even when he hasn't cast any aversion towards your own belief? Isn't that hypocritical and ignorancehuh
What makes you different from Boko Haram who wants everyone to practice their faith by attacking others? You just attack an innocent worshipper by calling his God imaginary, during a discourse that didn't warrant it.
Guy you are a joker seriously, first I don't believe you are an atheist. If you are tell us the day you became an antheist, what lead to it and the moment you know you are now an antheist.
Most of you are suffering from bang wagon effect (just like many Christian's and moslems too). You found some folks on Nairaland saying they are atheists and boom, you jumped on the van. You are using atheism as a defence mechanism to fight back against your unconsciously deep seated belief that God has failed you and you need to fight back by denying him.

Few minutes ago, I stumbled upon a post on nairaland (an old post) about a guy who renders menial services to people in his community. He disclosed his religious views in a whatsapp group of the community when a conversation about their God was going on. That action of his changes the way they looked at him, the number of jobs he received decreased drastically and survival for him was tough.
This same religious discussion also happened where I worked and when I aired my atheistic views, I looked like an outcast because I was the only atheist there, my boss even threatened to sack me the next day (I guess she was joking) she also said she will tell her husband about it it. Many of my coworkers said they hear that one doesn't believe in God only in movies and they're very surprised they could still find someone like this in reality, they looked at me like a bad person and their perspective about me changed.
I want to know if your religion taught you to be like this, turning people to bad people because of their belief system or sorta.
I'm sure atheists don't act this way because if we are like this, I'm sure Seun won't employ religious people and many atheist company owners won't employ religious people, all we care about is the quality of your service.
This reminds me of something that happened where I used to live. One fateful night, a neighbour of mine, a lady ran out of her room screaming her head out. Apparently, she had had a bad dream. She said she dreamt everyone living in the house died, that in her dream, we all slept and didn't wake up. The other neighbours were thrown into panic and they all woke up others sleeping and said to gather in front of the house for prayer. They knocked on my door last and told me what had happened. I laughed it off and told em I don't believe in such things, nor do I believe in prayers or existence of any god. They were stunned and one even threatened I wouldn't wake up the next day if I refused to join em in prayers that night. They went ahead and prayed for like an hour, some wailing, some speaking in tongues and all. I just kept laughing through it all.

The next day, they all gathered outside to thank whoever they had been praying to the previous night for letting them see another day. I walked past them and greeted them, none of them responded. I was like "wow, for people who just finished praying." One of them blurted out saying I was an Antichrist and possessed. In short, they ostracized me and wouldn't talk to me anymore nor reply my greetings after that. I had to move out, since I got no time for drama and negativity. These days I just keep my belief to myself mostly since Nigerians are very sensitive on religious issues.

His god is imaginary is my opinion towards it, did I pick up a fight or hate him? Bro, understand something before putting your mouth biko.
For your information, I do not need you to practice my faith because I don't have a faith, we atheists don't need anything from you, or have you seen any atheist with megaphone disturbing the neighbourhood? We only voice out out opinion without violence. You theists are the violent ones.

Dude, I just have to tell you to shut up for your last statement, what do you even know about me, what do you even know about atheism? We don't follow bandwagon, we are thinkers. Theists are the ones who follow bandwagon.

The irony is that when you criticize their beliefs they are quick to say "live and let live".

They claim to worship a loving god but are so bitter and intolerant of anyone who does not share their belief.

The only time theists unite is against atheists. The other times they are fighting among themselves

Wow! Sorry about your experience, though I shouldn't be all that surprised. Our brand of religion is all form and NO substance. That is why we are the most religious people in the world and the most corrupt. I swear, the kind of things most Nigerians get up to despite being very religious could make Saint Peter become an atheist. I met an old mentor of mine and she convinced me with proof that there are still selfless individuals who actually practice what they preach.
Still, I am getting very tempted to rejoin atheism because of the same issue- very widespread and totally shameless hypocrisy among the ostensibly religious. It's disgusting in the extreme.
