This kind of unnecessary thing that causes wahala. Seniority in wives again

It's the wife of the first son. Not the first wife married into the family.

Not necessary in this present time where individuality is in the fore. Is it tied to inheritance? What power do the "eldest wife" have other wives? With brothers preferring to live separately as against in the same compound there is less control over each other.

I disagree.However, some villages and towns might pratice differently but according to all the documented Igbo traditions, it's the first wife married to the family.
