Emmanuel Ezunu, Head, Clinical Services and Training, Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Asaba, has confirmed the death of a housewife who died 15 hours after she was delivered of quintuplets.

Mr. Ezunu who made the confirmation to newsmen in Asaba, said Chukwunonso Onyejekwe, 29, died of complications after delivery.

According to him, the deceased suffered acute respiratory failure and died after a successful Cesarean Section, CS, and was delivered of a set of five female babies.

Ezunu said that the woman was brought into the hospital as an un-booked patient, and due to her emergency condition, she was taken straight to the theatre.

According to him, “the woman in question was brought to the FMC, on the 28th of January 2019, un-booked; that is to say, she was not a registered patient here.

Damn! Raising a motherless child is difficult. How these babies want take survive. What a herculean task for their father!

In a developed country this is government's responsibility. But over here, talk something else...

Who knows she may be an advocate of traditional birth attendant, spiritual church advocate, or even nearby midwifery disciple. It's best to register in the hospital when you are pregnant. It reduces mother-child mortality cases. May her soul rest in peace and may those new born receive help. Amen

May God bring divine helpers to those innocent kids. It wont be easy for the husband

Five female children and she is not alive to behold their lovely lovely face. What a pity the government should please come to the aid of those children. Ohhhhh I just remembered that this is Nigeria. They will visit the hospital and take pictures with the babies and hospital staffs with some baby items and that is the end of the story.

Jeez,.. Multiple blessings now dented by the death of the mother. Na wa.

Possible casues

1.Amninotic embolisim....happens in high risk pregnancies. Especially one that was UNBOOKED.Nothing can be done once it happens. (Saw a case when I was a student. Never again!)

2.Pulmonary embolism. can ALSO happen in a high risk pregnancy.

In other words....PLEASE IF YOU ARE A PREGNANT FEMALE...or Male....GO FOR ANTENATAL CARE as SOON AS YOU GET PREGNANT. ANC SAVES LIVES!
