Never embark on such business without part payment. at least 50-70% payment should be done before you start.

My broda business is not for everybody. First you must lear how to understand people if not you will lie till thy kingdom come. Second don't start business on your own you must learn the ropes from someone successful in that biz. I am sure you want to be boss in a hurry. Sorry it doesn't work that way. Even dangote had a mentor dantata. Peace out

Leave that dangote and dantata story....the company was started up with stolen government money

Of course. That is the simple definition of the word ''RISK''. Uncertainties. I mean isn't that fundamental knowledge? Even without being said.
However, even uncertainties can be being managed. That there are risks does not mean the business must eventually fail. The question then is were people prepared for the uncertainties?

Venturing into business with the fundamental knowledge of the risky nature of business goes a long way in preparing a person for certain levels of conceivable risks. However, I reiterate that no one is ever fully prepared for the near-heart attack risks posed by businesses. But this truly doesn't mean that every business must eventually fail, if the right risk control methods are improvised.

I have a very funny and annoying case I'm dealing with right about now.

A company contacted me to design calendars for 2019 for them. After 2weeks of designing and countless tweaking plus product photo sessions, it got to the print stage and I suddenly the company said they can't pay the amount I requested for the print job.

I said OK fine, this is the soft copy of the job, get a printer to do the printing for less than what I offered, they went ahead and printed elsewhere even though the manager later confirmed they paid more for the printing compared with what I offered.

Now, the issue is this, I need my money for my intellectual property and time put into the design for calendar that they have already shared to their customers. To my greatest shock, I was told I won't be paid a dime.

What is their reason for not paying me? That I wasn't the one that printed the job, hence I won't be paid for the design. Like wtf are they talking about.

I'm already getting legal advice on how to recover my money from them.

Starting up a business ain't child's play people. Perseverance will surely pay in the long run. Stay focused, don't give up.

Sometime you need to take the shiit you get from the street to make you stronger. Don't give up. Next time to make the printing part of the whole package. You should have shown them samples of the print and not the softcopy

100% Very correct. Is anyone ever fully prepared for ALL eventualities? It is only God that nothing surprises.

I hope they pay up soon else, they'll pay much bigger in the long run. I don't understand how they think they can advertise their company for a whole year without paying for the design of the advert material. Funny.
bros, it is just one of those things... we learn everyday.

I tell people, don't ask anyone about a business you can do, figure out what you are passionate about and invest in that. I advise passion because that's what will keep you going when things are tough.

I started my human hair business in 2012 with 70k, today i run my own wholesale price depot worth millions of naira, with over 100 resellers that i have mentored. I have built my business from the ground up without bank loan. It requires discipline, sacrifice, doggeness and sleepless nights.

Owning a business is hectic, but it's the best thing that has happened to me. Don't go into a business expecting instant payout. You need to be ready to build it without thought of quitting. Give it your all, when you unlock your money level, the alerts will be rolling in even in your sleep.

Most of you lamentators do not know what is takes to run a business successfully.

A great product is just one of the 4 steps process to guarantee profiteering and each of the 4 steps requires precision and supra level of market engineering and sales execution.

Money making is an art. Building generational wealth requires a template.

It is a science that only few have mastered.

You are so damn right my brother
Running a business is another life and another face of life..... I started my business with the mindset that everything will be Rosy.... Mhen, few months into my Fashion business, I was broken and downcasted.... Ranging from incompetent stylist, Nagging customers, low level of experience.... coupled with the fact that... I haven’t run any business on my own....
But thanks To God, I didn’t give up, I cried and carried myself ..... 2 years into the journey, I am better than who I used to be and I am getting better gradually..... all thanks to God...
Don’t give up, don’t relent, keep pushing.... it will get better

It seems like you started working without a written agreement.

If I am doing even 1hr work for anyone, you have to accept a proposal I draft up which will serve as the contract. No time to offer free work to any bastard.

Starting your own business is crazy oooo, I help individuals, business and companies incorporate and register thier business online. Its been about a month now since i paid 20,000 Naira to Mr Seun Osewa Zenith Bank account to help me with my advertising credit so my advertising banner can be live on Nairaland. Have not heard Pim from the email we are meant to send our evidence of payment to.

I was also scammed by instablog9ja, i paid 50,000 Naira for a post, till today he keeps on saying he thought i wanted a instagram story as opposed to a post.

Its not easy running your own business oo like you are so much in debt already before you even begin to make any money whatsoever,
what are you doing with these sources that will only give your poor results for your money when you can use facebook for that 70k to rake in serious cash? bros, take your business to facebook... instablog and nairaland as shiits for adverts.

Another thing that crippled business fast is selling to family and friends. They don't want to pay or they will want to buy it at a very low price. They also kill business.

This is the best advice you can give a biz starter but then pple dream too big and expect too much. My last biz failed cus i started too big
av tryna kip dis to myself..u are magnificently ryt...going into a business is like going to a gamble house.,if u go with too much money,,u only going as a father Christmas to bless other gamblers with little money.,same applicable with business,u start small and make it grow,u learn, make mistakes and amend..little by little u become whom u dreamt of becoming..if u choose to start a business with a capital base of 100,000 with 2,000,000,u are only sinking ur own ship with too much load because u av failed to study the accommodating capacity,.
