Hello sir. Can I work for you? Even bag-carrying would do sir.

You have what it takes, this is the very first step. Understanding that the Human Being is just a bio-electric robot, an empty shell ready for de-programming and re-programming for success or failure.

Every business MUST fail, except someone meticulously fights the gravitational syndrome by applying all of Moore's laws anti-gravitational powers plus a lot of more than the average human knows.

Success is war victory, and one must have a war winning strategy to build lasting generational wealth, not these instant wealth methodologies that fails once the primary executioner goes 6 feet. It is a template that kids must be trained on, and the grandkids must master. If not, they loose it all, and FAIL. Failure is the NORM, Success MUST be faught for, and constantly so.

Aside few like Mike Adenuga, Tony Elumelu, and now Otedula and Jim Ovia are learning it, they have been surviving on one strategy all these while, now they are learning, cos what they do now, cant survive this generation. Coca Cola, Walmart, Pepsi, IBM and Amazon use this template and you cant fail.

It is a model that every poor man that wants to grow must master, or Failure is guaranteed. Failure is the Norm, SUccess requires a War Strategy.

The motherffuckers can keep whinning and crying and complaining. Nothing is given. The road to success is paved with sweat, tears and blood, your sweat, your tears and your blood. And if you can not succeed, suicide is allowed. No mercy.

No Grace of God, can help you here. cool

Lol, I feel your pain baba.

Moving forward, my advice, invest your advertising Naira only on the big 3.

You'll be glad you did.

Whats is even vexing me is that i see new banners on nairaland everyday, especially on top page ( usually the politicians who paid 500,000 into Mr Seun Osewa bank account) since we all pay for advertising credits the same way. So whats vexing me is that im sure he acts really fast on the big money guys and us the guy who paid 20,000 into his account, we probably arent that important.

Have lost count on the follow emails i have sent (Attached evidence of payment from Morning to Night)

And you see i am losing customers everyday like that oooo. Kai this stuff painful

I'm really happy to read people experience on here because I've been thinking like a mad man for the past 4 months, I thought maybe na village pple dey disturb me but reading how other express themselves here relax my mind. It's terrible trying to survive in Nigeria. All my neighbors at the shop don't bother to come to their respective shops again, some like 2-3 days at home citing poor sales and poor economy.

At least I can sleep tonight knowing fully well that "Aye is not doing me" grin

Every single day I visit the business section here on nairaland, It's either I find the crew who have money but don't have a business idea or I find those with business idea but lack money.

Whatever crew you are, please never start up a business if you're not dogged. That business idea might appear rossy in your brain until you start it up in the real world.

I started up a business barely a month ago and I'm almost loosing my mind. Is it the sleepless nights(sometimes working from 1am-7am) I'm going to talk about or the failed projects or the rude customers or the unnecessary but compulsory expensis or the pressure to give out the best at all times or the uncertainties.?

Hehehe...Because of business, I am now a professional Liar. Lord have mercy!

Now I know why most businesses don't last long. Not everyone is willing to go through the stress.

I now respect Dangote, Otedola, Adenuga, Jim ovia, Tony Elemelu...they are many cool

Your business will break your heart so many times. (I'm heartbroken at the moment) cry

Please if you're not dogged, don't think of starting up a business.

If you have started one, never back down. If it gets tough, you too get tough. In the end, you'll succeed.

I have made up my mind to continue to press on. No going back kiss

My Dear, i once regretted starting up a business few years ago but now i can tell you that God has been faithful. Once you press on, you will overcome. Every business have an incubation period. You are still at that incubation period.

I have a very funny and annoying case I'm dealing with right about now.

A company contacted me to design calendars for 2019 for them. After 2weeks of designing and countless tweaking plus product photo sessions, it got to the print stage and I suddenly the company said they can't pay the amount I requested for the print job.

I said OK fine, this is the soft copy of the job, get a printer to do the printing for less than what I offered, they went ahead and printed elsewhere even though the manager later confirmed they paid more for the printing compared with what I offered.

Now, the issue is this, I need my money for my intellectual property and time put into the design for calendar that they have already shared to their customers. To my greatest shock, I was told I won't be paid a dime.

What is their reason for not paying me? That I wasn't the one that printed the job, hence I won't be paid for the design. Like wtf are they talking about.

I'm already getting legal advice on how to recover my money from them.

Starting up a business ain't child's play people. Perseverance will surely pay in the long run. Stay focused, don't give up.

So pathetic. This is Nigeria sha.

I can't dispute the bold part, bro. I have observed that majority - like more than 90% of business people - lie. They make it seem like you can't succeed without doing that.

I started a business a year ago, invested millions and each passing day I wonder where the money we make zooms to....I understand cashflow and all that but there is just this evil spirit always waiting to swallow the money, it comes in various forms of expenses within and outside your budget. My advice is simple, ensure you save something everyday no matter how small and never touch it, a piggy bank would make sense, once one is full, get another. For example, if you saved at least 5k everyday for a year whilst going through the challenges, at year end, you would at least have something to show for the pain and effort. Resilience is very important in business. You must keep your eyes on the big picture, that way, the little hiccups would not break you. May God bless our hustle.

Lol...my brother, I use to be like. I use to think 'village people' were swallowing my money. So one day I decided was going to stop putting all my daily income in my purse, I started going home with only what I needed, threw away 3 ATM cards of my 4 bank accounts and left only where I paid myself salaries. I also got a POS, to discourage my hands from touching too much cash. In 3 years I was able to make 8 million in saving, yet sometimes na only N500 fit dey my Wallet. I even refused to buy a car and was hopping on molue buses with 8 million sitting in my bank account, packed from a 2 bedroom flat to a selfcon. grin

Guy, I punished myself for all my previous wastages and extravagant expenses.

Financial Discipline is key o

Businesses are not that bad.

What I have noticed is that the Nigerian environment automatically compels you to monitor your business every minute. If you take your eyes of it for one minute, your staff or customers try to cheat you. The environment puts a lot of pressure on you as an entrepreneur. If you cannot monitor, then you need people you can trust to monitor/manage the business. But how many Nigerians are trustworthy? The system puts a lot of pressure on businesses so much that the pressure is passed onto the customers, leading to poor service and then a positive feedback ensues affecting the business.

In other instances, expectations are too high for the budding business. And in a society where most people do not understand entrepreneurship and cash-flow, etc. I have seen people expect too much from a business where they are spending too much on labor, land/rent and raw materials among other overheads.

It is not a simple thing analyzing why businesses struggle or fail. However, it is common knowledge that every new business goes through the ''storm'' phase.

True talk, cutting unnecessary costs in labour and rent is very key to financial success. It's one principle I am adopting in our new branch after suffering so much over the past years building a business.

Yes, I have evidence. The raw file is in my laptop, I transferred the file to thier flash drive. They can't reproduce the original work. I acted on blind trust, never knew I was dealing with a fraudulent multi-million naira company.

Would have been better if you transferred d file by email, or had other corroborative docs, like even WhatsApp messages. It will be hard linking the softcopy on Ur hardrive to the printed calendar. Not impossible, but hard. Best option would involve setting up a display screen in court. If the disputed sum is worthwhile, it's still doable.

Most times businesses fail when most owners want to start big. .without learning anything about the business and trade secrets...even if you have 10million..start from buttom.and learn .this will prepare for eventualities..

Very very correct. Start small and learn the rudiments and grow, the bigger you start, the bigger the fall, if it fails. I had about 1.5 million when I started, I sunk 500K into the business and watched it grow but controlling expenses was my big problem until one day I calculated the annual income and saw we made 1.3 million shocked..... but where was the money? I couldn't tell.

So I started 'operation save 80%'. grin

Thanks Op This is just the truth, business ideas are always rossy in your head infact you ll calculate how your profits ll be coming but in real practical my brother u go fear
Take for example as a graduate Who doesn't want to stay idle, I know how to make tasty chinchin before coming to Lagos I already believe I am getting ground here on getting here my product is good but the look is not Lagos standard,
I was supplying a woman in a school and she was collecting everyday, the day I went to the market to buy in bulk and produce enough was the day she told me another person is bringing something else to their school as I speak my raw materials are dere looking at me. The ones I did, i took dem out all the people I visited it's either they complain no market or they already have it in stock.
Na me and my cousins they eat the chinchin now.
