Run as fast as your legs can carry you

Ocon:
Good morning house, please I need your opinion and advice here.
My friend and I wish to leave this country for Canada or US. I suggest we apply for a student visa as we're almost done with NYSC but he's concerned about the money involved (we're both can't afford it and no sponsor). I try to convince him we might be lucky to get a full or half scholarship but he's having non of it.

So yesterday, he took me to an agent who he claimed has successfully gotten Canada and US visa for people. On getting there, the agent said he's going to help us apply for a tourist visa which will be made legal on getting there. He said we will pay an initial amount of 70k and then 350k when the Visa is out.

Now, to my best of knowledge and then information i've gotten from this thread and the US thread. I deduce

1) it's almost impossible to be granted a visiting visa when you've no relatives or any important thing like conference or tour to do over there.

2) With no previous travel history, no landed property, strong ties at home or a fat account statement. Our chances is almost zero.

3) Also learnt that the US and Canada share travel history with each other and I am afraid if we apply for this visa and was eventually denied, won't it raise an issue when I want to apply for a student visa later.

4) I asked the agent all this questions but he replied that he has he ways around all this especially the bank statement and intent. I am afraid of this as I think he might want to forged or probably include false documents in the application.

I try reasoning with my friend but he's not convinced enough and he's hell-bent of going ahead with the agent.

Please is it advisable to go ahead with the agent or I should just apply for the student visa and be hopeful whether I could get a funding.

Thanks...

@aye88, That amount is small for 3 people let along childbirth inclusive. Depending on how soon you want to re-apply, what I would suggest is provide account statement(Bank B) with extra funds from a different bank account along with the initial statement from Bank A if the funds has been in there before the visa app was refused. But if it has not been in Bank B before the refusal and you just want to arrange for it one way or the other, I would suggest you make the arrangement into the account(Bank B), put it in a fixed deposit of say like 6months. Then use only the Fixed deposit certificate from that bank B, with account statement of bank A(the bank statement you submitted initially) with some topping if possible(no unusual lump sum though) and re-apply. You can terminate the FD some weeks after submission, but to be on the safe side, you may leave the fixed deposit till you get result of your application. A budget sheet will help both you and the Visa Officer.

You MAY also choose to apply alone for now without hubby and mum. Either ways, you need to demonstrate some more financial strength.

This is the wrong thread for you. This is where you should be https://www.nairaland.com/1346880/giving-birth-canada

Read read and read and relate with other mums expecting.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you very much. Will give this a try

hi @ peaceful2016,i am trying to apply for visa for my mum to go with me to canada in june,i have pr status but i dont live in canada yet and i would like to know what type of visa you applied for your mum(family visitor or tourist),how you did the accommodation part of it(if you had to book hotel or not) and if you had to make flight reservations.
Thank you

Hi I replied your email but i didn't get any other response from you. For the accommodation I used a family member's address since I'm not there yet. That's the same address I used during soft landing. Also it was family visitor visa I did since I wrote an invitation letter

Paper application is when u submit you application and documents to their office in your country. Online application is when you apply online and scan all your decumemts online. To make it simpler, paper Na wen u carry your application n your supporting document go give them for office, then online Na wen u fill the form online n scan document online. About faster, I don’t know, but for someone who has less ideas about how the whole process works. I will advice paper as it gives you the opportunity of having your application checked by the staff at the application center. They inform you of mistakes and you get the opportunity of correcting them and bringing them back another day. That’s my own little knowledge. Hope it helps

Good day all.
I have a licensing exam(phatmacy) by June and the website says international graduates of pharmacy can apply and will be given a letter as it pertains visa. I am also awaiting PPR(express entry) and believe I will get it before June. Please what are my chances?

Good evening all. Please I would love to know my chances of getting a Canadian visa as a father whose wife is going for child birth.

She already has a visa and had been there before now for first delivery. However I was occupied with work that period. I do not know how compelling it would be by using my wife's delivery as a reason for travel.

I have a very strong home tie in UAE as my country of residence where I currently work as a Petroleum Engr.
Thanks

Nobody can predict your chance. Just apply for tourism. Your job is a tie in UAE.

Thank you. What is a GCMS note? I have reapplied and provided clarification on the point raised, however it's just me this time around along with other supporting docs.

emeify:
I think you should have ordered your GCMS note to know the exact reasons for refusal. What is written on d letter us usually just generic reasons. If u cant wait for the GCMS then apply again but I dont think you should write childbirth. Do u hold a current US visa? That could help too.

Unfortuantely, you cant renew a passport that doesnt have less than 6 months validity in Nigeria, i was in your shoe about 2 weeks ago, when i discovered DH passort expires in Dec.
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Semisolasola: 12:25pm On Feb 04, 2019
Unfortunately, you can not renew and yes canada grants visas according to your passport duration.you might want to hold on applying but if not then of course you can apply

Thank God for the success..... pls can you help me with how you addressed the initial refusal letter?
mimimum:
To God be the glory. My mum's TRV application was approved on Friday. I took the risk and reapplied online immediately and submitted more detailed documentation (letter of clarification for the refusal, purpose of travel, letter of invitation, updated bank statements, budget breakdown) this time. I resubmitted some old docs I used before. With God, it turned out well and in less than a month 21st Dec to 18th January (despite the holidays in between), we received passport request. Thanks for the advises. Please don't give up after a refusal. Try and be detailed as possible the first time and hope for the best.

Hello house, please anyone did biometrics from 10th of January and got a response? I thought processing times had reduced greatly but not heard anything since my biometrics, despite the CAN+ expedited processing they talked about.

Good day house, please help me look at this. I want to apply for a visit visa to Canada together with my 3 month old baby and hubby. I have a half sister in Canada who can write an invitation letter for us if need be. I want to use my job as home tie but hubby has nothing to use as home tie as I'm the only one working also whats in my account cannot sponsor us so my dad wants to send 4m naira to my account to sponsor us. What do you think our chance is of getting this visa.

I dont think this is a good idea. Oyinbo would question why your sister want to invite you, your hubby and the kids at the same time only to become a burden to her, and then again your hubby is not working.

I want to assume you have no intentions of coming back to Nigeria after your visa is expired. I will suggest you go first with your daughter, balance up a little then hubby can join later.

By the way, I already got my visa and in doubt of how to settle in the North American country. Is your sister single?
