If sincere christians ruled the world using today's bible, we will experience socialism, the limiting and censorship of certain scientific fields (evolutionary biology, carbon dating of the earth's age and certain aspects of cosmology) and suppression of freedom of speech and expression. |

The problem with the domination of political power by religion is the attenuation of freedoms. They will likely do things like ban any speech that satirizes their religion same way muslims do and other things they would be against that in a secular society reason would normally allow. So no I do not want religion to dominate the political power of where I reside. On a lighter note, christian utopias are boring: no partying, no drinking, no sex; terrible place to be in. |

The oppression of scientific thought and opposing views to those of the church were the key reasons why no progress was made in Europe for almost a millennia. Europe was backward, drenched in squalor, overcome with religious superstitious attitudes and very few dared take a stance against the theology of the church as it pertained to science etc. Galileo and his ilk were only welcome by the church when the complied with its daft theology of the age of the earth and its formation etc, the minute they took opposing views, they were hunted down persecuted and often killed. Besides the church we are talking about here is the CHRISTIAN CHURCH that has been engrossed with Paedophilia, sexual perversion, slavery, genocide and all manner of vice.
