A Failed Attempt By Festus Keyamo At Playing The Ethnic Card To Further Divide N by eyeview: 10:35am On Feb 06, 2019
Recently Channels Television had in their studio an interview with the ever controversial Festus Keyamo, the spokesman of President Buhari campaign organisation and Buba Galadima, an erudite political scholar, a student of history and the spokesman of the Atiku Presidential council.

Both were engaged in a serious face off. Sadly, Keyamo could not withstand the schooling in political history he was receiving from the ever sound Galadima. Viewers were apprehensive as each passing second showed that keyamo was losing it and was not only getting violent in his rhetorics but was degenerating to verbal attacks on persons than issues. Personally, I knew it was a matter of minutes before our good friend the SAN throws all decorum to the dogs. Hence, I wasn't surprised when he launched his next line of attack on the daughter of Alhaji Buba Galadima. Everybody felt that was a very big low on the part of Keyamo, but then again, that's keyamo at his best. Galadima who though expressed disappointment that his daughter had to be dragged into this did his best to wriggle successfully out of that with an explanation that even showed the likes of Keyamo as interlopers and 'eaters from a table others he's trying now tp demonize prepared'. As each second past, I stole a glance at the clock, hoping to see if the program will come to an end quickly before Keyamo caved under pressure.

Alas, Keyamo did the unthinkable. He did what many educated people considered a whole new low, even by his own standards. Seeing he had ran out of 'ammo' against the persons and characters of his opponent, the leaders of afenifere, ohaneze, northern elders and the PDP, and he had a minute or two to make a closing statememt in an interview that he has been properly schooled, he threw in the most disgusting ethnic card. Most Nigerians were left in shock on how he first of all started by telling us all how his mother is Yoruba as a means of drawing up tribal sentiments to his next line of argument and then threw in a tribal bait of how Yorubas will vote Buhari because of Osibanjo who is their son. He based the bait on the premise that igbos will vote Atiku because of Peter Obi, their son. He then further went on to boast of how certain he is that his Yoruba brothers will not abandon their son to join igbos to vote a 'China man'. Most viewers across all tribes were left very disgusted. Having lost the argument with Galadima on all sides and failed to show on national TV why Nigerians should re-elect President Buhari, he felt his last bet was to throw in the tribal bait to incite a tribal division between igbos and Yoruba. How nauseating.

The most painful thing was that he tried desperately hard to show the igbos as tribalsts who were going to vote based on tribal sentiments. He was prepared to create disunity and ethnic division in the country to achieve his goal.

It is necessary for all to note that igbos have been the most detrablized region using the voting process. Let's go back a bit. In 2003, General Buhari picked a well loved igbo son then in the person of Late Chuba Okadigbo as his running mate but igbos voted overwhelmingly for Obasanjo. The fact that the Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu was in this camp did not stop igbos from voting for Obasanjo. In 2007, General Buhari picked another respected Igbo statesman in the person of Godwin Ume-ezeoke as his running mate, yet igbos voted for a fulani/ijaw candidate in the persons of Yaradua and Jonathan. At those points, nobody called them tribalists. In fact, the singsong then from these same accusers was that igbos don't love their own or themselves.

Today, igbos who are very blessed in taking non sentimental but objective and deeply incisive decisions have sat down to look at the two leading candidates to check the one that will truly unify the country, heal the wounds, create jobs and employment opportunities, restore the nation on the part of wealth, end insecurity and provide a level playing ground for all to succeed. And the analysis best suited the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate and his running mate, ex Gov Peter Obi. And some mischief makers felt the best they would do is label them as tribalists.
If you vote against your tribesman, the mischief makers will taunt you as hating yourselves. If you vote for your tribesman, they call you a tribalist. These are the kind of people Our Lord Jesus Christ spoke about in Mattew11:16-19, what shall we do with this generation of people? If you don't wine and dine, they say you have a devil, if you come eating and drinking, they will say you are gluttonous, a drunkard and a sinner.

I pray these mischief makers and 'accusers of the brethren' like Festus Keyamo who are seeking to play the ethnic card as their last card will not end as part of the generation of vipers John the Baptist spoke about in that scripture. Selah

Igbos continued to support the clueless, failed, and corrupt Jonathan for a 2nd term, just for their own benefit.

Igbos hate Buhari and berate all the Yorubas in the Buhari government.

Igbos did not hide their threat not to vote for Aticou of Cameroon if he did not select an Igbo running mate.

Igbos have not hidden their support for Aticou because it gives the Igbo running mate a shot at the Presidency later, now that Igbos have been given their desired role of deputy to a Fulani Muslim.

As always, Igbos believe they are smart while others are stupid.

The same Fulani tribe and Islam that Igbos have berated for the last 5yrs since 2014, have now become a Master to be served, as long as Igbos get to serve them like their ancestors have done since 1960.

Indeed! Keyamo is right, and the Igbos will be foolish to think the Yorubas do not know who they are dealing with when it concerns the Igbos and their greed and hypocrisy.

In 2015 during the height of Buhari's popularity, the entire SW gave him a vote difference of 580k votes.

Anambra alone gave GEJ a difference of 660k votes. SW is not a threat in this election. Anambra will put them in place

Thanks for reminding us all that the SW votes are made based on pragmatic assessment, and not based on tribal sentiments like the Igbo block votes of 2011 and 2015.

Igbos vote on tribal impulse, Nigerians do not expect that to change in 2019.

Now you understand when the SW say we are sophisticated in our politics.

Every major candidate has a chance in the SouthWest, same cannot be said about the tribal politics of the SouthEast.

That is my problem with yorubas superiority complex. No wonder the entire country hates them but they will still deny this because they don't travel.

Tinubu lost SW in 2015, it was his hero Mc Oluomo that saved the day for him just like he did in Osun again.

A whole SW couldn't Buhari 1 million victory margin and you still claim you are strategic. Do you think PDP is stupid to choose Peter Obi?

Don't deceive yourself, yorubas are most tribal ethnic group in Nigeria it is not hidden. They introduced tribal dimension to our polity.

Sanusi said it, Northern Elders Forum also said it.

Yorubas voted massively for Buhari which they will also do in few days time, but Ndi Igbo, Ijaws and Benue has massive population that can counter them.

Yes!

Yorubas introduced tribal politics because a Yoruba man from the Western Region dared to contest for the Premiership of his own Western Region, and in doing so, he defeated an Igbo refugee contesting with another political party on the hopes that his Yoruba party members would win enough parliamentary seats that will allow him become Premier of the region.

The misery and agony of that loss in Yorubaland that made Azikiwe remember the road to his village, has been passed on from one Igbo generation to another.

One Igbo is saying Yorubas voted massively for Buhari, while another Igbo is saying the difference in votes in Yorubaland for Buhari versus Jonathan, is not up to the votes difference Igbos gave Jonathan over Buhari in Anambra.

Better decide fast which propaganda you all want to peddle to counter the facts that 2011 and 2015 elections showed clearly that Igbos are tribal voters, which they will again show in 2019.

Anambra vote difference to Jonathan is 80k votes more than the difference SW gave to Buhari. Those that voted massively for Buhari in SW are mostly yorubas while Non-indigenes voted massively for Jonathan thereby splitting the votes.

Keyamo highlighted the fact that Pdp started tribal sentiments with thier campaign, with documentaries they aired. islamization agenda, aimed at discrediting buhari by all means

he also stated that Ibos are going to support obi , same way Yorubas will stand by thier brother osibanjo

Having portrayed buhari as vindictive, tribal and unforgiving . Keyamo informed the world that Galadima's blood daughter works with buhari in aso rock at that point galadimas face went dead in shock grin grin grin , galadima is buharis critic , If indeed buhari was wicked that girl should be unemployed or in jail

Keyamo retirated that Buhari never insulted anyone of them despite all the insult propaganda and abuses

therefore op is silly and needs brain reset , there wasnt any attempt to play any cards whatsoever

The SouthWest has no electoral value, yet Igbos wail and gnash their teeth daily on how Yorubas betrayed an imaginary and fictitious Southern Unity by sacking the clueless Jonathan in 2015.

If Yoruba weren't playing tribal politics, can you show me any presidential candidate that didnt have either Yorubas as presidential or vice presidential candidate that Yorubas ever voted for. Even in 2011 when it was a straight for GEJ, they voted ACN of Ribadu and Fola Adeola.

I can now see I am discussing with an Ignoramus.

Did Jonathan not win 5 out of 6 states of the SouthWest in 2011, despite having 2 Yorubas who could have been vice president with ACN and CPC?

Nuhu Ribadu and Fola Adeola only won in Osun state. But Igbos ensured Jonathan neglected his supporters in the SouthWest, and he paid dearly for thinking the Igbo backbone was all that he needed to win a 2nd term when he was an unredeemable failure.

Did Atiku with Ben Obi as running mate, not win the SouthWest in the 2007 elections with ACN?

Please educate yourself.

Tell me how igbos made Jonathan to neglect the South West. It's always a fallacious belief to think that igbos gained an undue share under Jonathan. Far from it. Instead got under GEJ an equitable distribution but because Nigerians were used to having igbos shortchanged, it was easy to see it as overage. If six people usually share 60 items and one particular person never got more than 3 or 4, the day he will get 10, it will seem to others as unfair advantage whereas it was equity. Can you name the projects Jonathan carried out in the east that showed favouritism over other zones
