Former Abia State Governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has revealed that the South-East needs the presidency more than restructuring, insisting that only the National Assembly can carry out restructuring. He also maintained that nothing would stop the Igbo from seeking the country’s number one position in 2023. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Daily Sun, Kalu, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Abia North, said: “Well, the Igbo will contest in 2023; nothing will stop us and morality will take its stand. “Nigerians will check whether it is morally right for Igbo to be in the polity of this union, or whether the polity is shakable that we are not part of it. Igbo will contest in 2023; anybody who is interested should contest. Whoever wins will be the president of Nigeria.’’ Explaining why the Igbo people need the presidency in 2023 more than restructuring, the former governor who noted that Nigerians should rather advocate for fiscal federalism, said: “We (Igbo) need the presidency more than restructuring. The presidency is more important. If really there is fairness in Nigeria, I don’t see anything stopping an Igbo man being President in 2023. Yeah, it's true. Yibbos needs One (fake) Nigeria than nigeria needs the yubbos. Hence right from the onset, they were the only group (among the 3 major groups) routing for one nigeria when from all indications, we are all different. |
