Atiku’s PDP Lagos Rally; the Final Blow to Dictatorship

Despite being a workday, the PDP had their presidential rally at the Tafawa Balewa Square, a venue twice bigger than the Venue on which the APC held their presidential campaign rally in Lagos. The rally which was anchored on the joblessness and insecurity which the Buhari-led administration has brought upon Nigeria, enjoyed massive cheers from the attendees.

In the entourage was the PDP presidential candidate; Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi, the Director General of the PDP presidential campaign; Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the National Chairman of the PDP; Prince Uche Secondus, the Governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos; Mr. Jimi Agbaje and a lot of other dignitaries.

The various speakers hinted on the challenges the country has been facing under the Buhari administration, including insecurity, bad economy and job losses. The National Chairman of the PDP stated clearly that the PDP has uncovered plans by the APC to rig the election. He went on to state that the PDP will not allow that happen. He also further tasked the attendees to vote PDP and defend their votes.

The VP candidate of the PDP, Peter Obi solicited votes based on the pro-business manifesto of the Atiku candidacy. When Atiku Abubakar spoke, he reminded the people of his resolve to create jobs. He admonished the people of Lagos to vote him for the jobs and wealth he intends to create for the business hub of the nation. The crowd joyously dispersed after the national anthem. Attendees state that the traffic due to the campaign has led to a gridlock from Awolowo road up to Tafawa Balewa Square.

Acknowledging that the APC is in obvious lead, several PDP stalwarts have started reaching out in secret meetings with APC with a view to working out “exit deals”.

As confessed by one of the PDP chieftains, “Buhari has the momentum now and the wise thing to do politically is to consider options after all in politics there is no permanent friend or permanent enemy.”
Among those reaching out to the APC presidential candidate are Dino Melaye, Segun Showunmi, Bukola Saraki, Ayo Fayose and Ben Murray-Bruce.
These PDP henchmen, as disclosed, believe that the best option left for them is to start early to work out a contingency plan which if concretised may see them work secretly betray Atiku come Saturday, February 16.

Also elements from Kwankwaso camp believed to represent the interests of the “Red cap man” are among those reaching out to APC as revealed. Though details of this group’s discussions with the APC are scanty, it may also not be unconnected to negotiating an “exit deal” to protect themselves from Buhari's anti-corruption war post May 29 2019. This is however not likely to work in their favor.
In the last few weeks, the APC presidential candidate has continued to surge far ahead the former vice-president in both internal and foreign polls. This obviously may have set panic measures in the camp of the PDP and like most Nigerian politicians, self interest and preservation comes first before any talk of party loyalty or interests.

Recall it was reported last week that these PDP henchmen in a desperate attempt to salvage the slipping fortunes of his election bid started reaching out to some APC chieftains with huge monetary enticements.

When contacted, Bukola Saraki, Atiku campaign DG declined to comment. The presidential election is slated for this Saturday February 16, 2019.

Success has no explanation, weather work day or not, the people knows what they want.

In a sane society and a free and fair election, Buhari will not even come second (2nd) talk more of winning the election
