To avoid being scammed and then coming to nairaland to shout. Run away from those who are offering very cheap dogs.

Note: Quality doesn't come cheap.

here is a write up from Mr. Cocci

Too many times I hear People say... THEY HAVE BEEN SCAMMED

in the dog market, I have heard that word so much so that I am now now numb to it.

Upon my perusal to that word SCAM.

I have come to ask myself two questions.

1. Why do people get scammed and
2. Why does scam thrive?

The answer is simple.

A scammer will stop scamming when the buyer of a product(s) or service(s) stops looking for a CHEAPER alternative.

If every buyer is properly enlightened on the dangers of shortcuts, when it comes to buying a dog or puppy, I am more than sure that most will desist from it.

At the end of the day let's get one thing straight..

A scammer is not only those who cheat Ppl by giving them a substandard pup for a high fee

BUT

those who ENCOURAGE IT.

I can sell my pups cheap, it's s my prerogative. There are many other reasons why people are scammed and not just about the price.

-Always use proxy - there are loads of trusted handles who can take a token to act as proxy.
-Make sure you have someone who can go pick up the dog or check out its authenticity.
-Go through the sellers threads and posts to know his history and read comments.
-Check sellers date of registration. Its always a pointer. (Beware of newly registered handles)
-If after negotiations and seller keeps worrying and asking you when you will pay etc, or putting pressure on you that someone else want to buy the dog... its a red flag.
-Try as much as possible to negotiate based on pay before delivery.

Thanks.
