Chaos has erupted in Rivers State after the result for the presidential election was declared on Tuesday evening. Enefiok Essien, the state collation officer, declared the results, three days after the collation exercise started in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The collation exercise ended in chaos as agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) protested the deletion of the controversial Emohua Local Government Area (LGA) results. Out of the 23 LGAs in the state, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won 14, while President Muhammadu Buhari won three, after Emohua LGA was removed. Elections in some areas were also cancelled as a result of electoral malpractices and violence. According to the figures released by INEC, valid votes were 642,165; rejected votes were 24,420, and total votes cast were 666,585.
