Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr, has played down the chances of the Super Eagles winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

He argued that Nigeria are not among the top three ranked teams in Africa.

The German gaffer noted that Nigeria did not qualify for the last two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, hence their poor Fifa ranking.

The former Burkina Faso coach picked three North African countries, as well as Senegal as the favourites for the title.

“No, I do not think we can say that. When we look at the ranking of Africa and FIFA, we are not the first African country,” says Genrot Rohr

“There are other countries in front of us, I think we are fourth. There is Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt that may be favourite at home for the AFCON, there is also Senegal in front of us.

“The ranking is not just the latest results, but for a few years. In 2014, 2015, Nigeria was not great and did not qualify for the last two AFCON. It has somewhat handicapped its ranking at FIFA and Africa,” he added.

That's too bad. You don't even have faith in the team you're coaching. How are they going to get positive results when their no.1 cheerleader has given up on them?

Rohr does that always... it's his strategy to take away high expectations and pressure off the team.

Mind game, and at the same time taking pressure off his team.

Other teams would underestimate the Super Eagles only to come and chop koboko.

Pure mind games.

Only if you know the SCAM that goes into employing these foreign coaches, then you wont wonder anymore.
I still insist that we plough all the funds we use in paying all these foreign coaches that bring little or nothing to our footbal development, into TRAINING and RE-TRAINING our LOCAL COACHES.
If they fail at first and second attempt, we simply improve on their training......afterall, all these foreign coaches also FAIL woefully!
Cant see what the two foreign coaches of the Super falcons and Super Eagles have done to our teams, that is spectacular and far above what our local coaches that we sack, have done in the past/

But the NFF administrators are making a killing in employing a foreign coach.
From Travel Estacodes for the officials, to other arrangements like "accommodation" in foreign countries, negotiation kickbacks, e.t.c, there is too much corruption in our football, just like FIFA and the same FIFA is the one protecting corrupt football officials at the national level, especially in corrupt countries of Africa.
Maybe the idea is to ensure that "we dont get it right", so we cant develop like them?

That's what a good coach says, I have never heard the coaches of Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Spain even when these countries were at the top of their performances admit they are favorites to win any tournament. Only baby coaches cant resist the temptation to show off.

Difference between the two Coaches is that Guardiola actually produces WINS while this Rohr does exactly as he predicts ...FAIL
Please dont compare Apples with Oranges.

What do we actually expect from a coach who does not see ONE GOOD FOOTBALLER good enough for his Team, in a nation of close to 200million soccer-crazy people?
All he does is go and assemble some half-castes who cant get into the team of their country of birth and some other "foreign based players", thinking that is all it takes to win a tournament.

Did we even learn anything from the world cup failure?
