More than one decade after it was proposed and investment prospectus pushed into the global market in search of investment partners, it appears foreign and local investors are yet to be convinced that the $450 million Lekki International Airport in Lagos is worth staking their funds.Source: https://businessday.ng/exclusives/article/lagos-yet-to-find-investors-for-lekki-intl-airport-10-years-after/ |

Lagos State bringing her own world class infrastructures e.g seaport and airport. If these projects are successful then the FG airport and seaport will be privatized in order to live up to the high services rendered by others, just like the refineries will soon be privatized |

deomelo:They said 10years. Ambode spent less than 4years so far |

That project is simply unviable. FG airport will kill it |

MXrep:We just read the efforts his predecessor displayed, please explain to us what Ambode did in the last 4 to move the project forward. |

MXrep:The PPP model the state is following wont work and the FG's ambiguous attitude and zero skin in the game is not helping either. The Lekki deep seaport model is a 3 way project with the FG, Lagos state and private so it beats me why they are not following the same model |

If the FG has 9 million traffic a years , the airport will be less than 4 million. That's not enough to get an investor to dump funds. |

It was gathered that the investors pulled out from the project citing inclement political and social environment, thus forcing the state government and its consultants to launch a fresh search for another set of investors.True, realtors are also complaining of very low patronage on land acquisitions and tradings since 2015.. It's the same problem bedevileling the FG and chasing away investors. |

“We haven’t found an investor for the airport. We’re still searching,” an official of the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, who craved anonymity, confided in BusinessDay on Friday.I can see why osun airport flopped when Lagos couldn't do it with same sort of deal. I dont see Anambra being lucky on out of 3. I havent seen any updates from since it was announced. Right now the FG trying to get the 4 of it's International airports concessioned. I dont think their intrested in funding more new airports like they are deep seaports. It was gathered that the investors pulled out from the project citing inclement political and social environment,Does anyone know if the polical and social environment has improved since 2014? |

I believe the negotiation skills of this Ambode government is quite poor. The Lekki airport project can be lucrative because it is being sited in an area that is witnessing massive projects coming up like Lekki FTZ, Lekki deep seaport, Dangote refinery and the rest. With all these projects coming up, I don't see how according to the article investors are scared of making commitments to this project. I've learnt Sanwo-olu is a good negotiator, he has even secured about $50 million worth of investments for Lagos at his trip to Davos and I hope when he comes in, the Lekki airport will be one of his priority projects for the Lekki-Epe axis. |
