If he could do these in his first tenure,his people should not vote for him again. Most first term performing Governors in naija always fu*k up in their second term. They should vote another credible candidate for continuity. His second term would be trying to make himself godfather of his state politics.

The main job of the govt is provision of sane and conducive environment and conditions, but govts across the world are wising up and doing more.
Everybody is a private individual and everybody's job is technically nobody's job. This is the reason govt around the globe always go out of their way to protect individuals and private establishments.

For example, many national govt own oil companies that refine, explore and manage crude after setting up enabling environment for foreign and local investors to thrive. One thing though is in this particular case, the Ebonyi state govt is not too strong financially to assist with major industries but can still do something.

Govt can always set up industries that serve the people but that isn't their primary responsibility.
Look at our oil industry for example, govt could have set up more refineries to help employ more hands. If refining of less than 20% of our crude can employ so many people then refining 100% could do five times as much. In other countries the right thing to do is for the govt to intervene.
USA as a country injects funds into her auto industry and this is primarily so that the auto industry can keep employing huge number of hands gainfully and save forex/shrinking of economy. Even subsidy of university education by nations is a form of intervention.
So other nations build the industries, other invite foreign investors and negotiate a majority share of the venture.
One thing is common to all, govt intervenes in private domain when the stakes are high and as long as they are determined they succeed.

One serious example I forgot in the first reply is that of our Banking sector. Under Soludo, CBN gave $7 billion to 14 banks around 2006-2007. $500 million each as intervention to increase their capital.
It was a form of intervention even though they tagged it as saving.

Yes the govt isn't sincere but the stakes are high and these things are tempting to do any day anytime. Especially for a battered nation like ours.

Look at chocolate/coca. We produce about 20% of the whole raw cocoa of the world and can therefore control about 20% of the total cocoa/chocolate dependent market valued at $120 billion.
20% of that market is too tempting to ignore as it can employ hundreds of thousands of hands gainfully. I don't blame the Ivory Coast govt trying to intervene in their cocoa value chain. They know their primary responsibility but also know what their intervention can do for the coca farmers and the whole nation.
